I was born in France but I have been living in Vancouver, BC since 1999.
Since I started painting with watercolors and painting has been a pleasure and a necessity.. Recently I have been trying a more mixed media approach, using mainly acrylics, watercolors, pastels, stamping and collage and I have been very pleased with the results, and I'm enjoying the process of modifying the texture, layering colors then removing some, adding pastels.
My style goes from semi abstract to realistic. I am painting landscapes, portraits and cityscapes, and a few still lives.
I use a variety of surfaces from papers to wood panels that will give different directions to my work. When choosing a subject I ask myself what kind of paper and technique would help me better convey the effect I am looking for :Do I want a more subtle approach with a controlled layering technique on an absorbent paper (watercolor paper) or do I want a more direct approach with brighter colors, more texture on yupo paper (yupo is a synthetic paper that has no absorbency, the colors will stay on the surface and dry only by evaporation making more or less predictable patterns in the process). Painting on watercolor board will give me a result somewhat in between. For my works with texture I'm using wood panels, canvas or papers.
