From the time he was old enough to hold a pencil, Scott has been drawing and doodling. At age 11, seeing the artistic potential, his parents enrolled him in formal art lessons, where he began with the basics: perspective, shading, and composition, all of which he couldn’t stand (though now he’s grateful for his teacher, Lazell Green, taking the time to give him a solid foundation). After the basics, he began working in pastels, then moved into oils. Though oils are his favorite medium, he enjoys graphite, pen and ink, and watercolor as well.
In college, he majored in Commercial Art with a heavy emphasis in Studio Art, graduating in 1993. During his senior exhibition, the college requested one of Scott’s paintings for permanent collection.
Since graduation in 1993, Scott has accepted several private and corporate commissions, with subjects such as: aviation (which has always been a passion, especially World War II), architectural, wildlife, portraits, still-life, and murals. For Scott, murals have been the most challenging, but yet the most rewarding.
Scott’s art is exhibited in public and private collections throughout the United States. His work can be seen at Redstreake Gallery in Cowan, Tennessee and Artifacts in Florence, Alabama.
