Scott Ridgway has been a Professional Photographer and Photographic Technician for more than 25 years. He is a third generation photographer for his family. During the early part of his career as a sports photographer he covered Rodeo, Mountain Biking and Surfing. In the 1980's to 1990's Scott worked with many of the top ranked sports photographers and managed the photo lab for the world's largest sports photo agency.
Scott has discovered a new passion, photographing Native American life including portraits of families, children and elders. His subjects have also included Pow Wow dancers and give-aways, Coming of Age Ceremonies, Honoring of Elders, award shows and special events
In the past couple of years his photographic activities have included travels to Utah, New Mexico, Arizona, Michigan, North Dakota and Connecticut. He also expanded the type of events to include World Championships, Santa Fe Indian Markets (SWAIA), International Association of Indian Arts (IAIA) Fashion Show, and Schemitzun Pow Wow & Rodeo for the Mashantucket Pequot PR Department. Scott donated large prints to the Gathering of Nations Committee in 2005 & 2006 depicting the Grand Entry with 2000 dancers which are currently hanging in the entrance of the University of New Mexico “The Pit”. Just recently, Scott worked under Federal Grant guidelines for the Grand Traverse Ottawa Chippewa Tribe in Michigan. In 2006, In A Good Way Photo Project sponsored a Teen Hoop Contest at the Gathering of Nations in Albuquerque, NM. 2007 was a year of change working with the Choctaw, Hualapai tribes documenting events.
