While I sometimes work in studio from my own photos taken on location, my true passion lies in painting en plein air - outdoors on location - where landscapes are alive with colors and nuances that even the best photograph cannot recreate and where the challenge of trying to capture those fleeting moments of light and shadow makes each painting an exciting adventure.

The vast majority of my paintings focus on the beautiful landscapes and seascapes of ME and NH, especially NH's White Mountains.

I have won major awards in all of the mediums in which I work - acrylic, oil, pastel, and watercolor - and have been accepted into many juried competitions and shows. I am a juried member of the Oil Painters of America, maintain memberships in several area Artist Associations and am the founder of NHPleinAir Artists (an acronym for Painting Landscapes Everywhere In NH And In the Region), a collective of regional plein air artists which now has hundreds of members.

In addition to painting what inspires me, I also accept commissions and my commissioned pieces can be found in private and business collections throughout the United States as well as in Australia and Russia.

In my paintings I strive to portray the beauty in this world because I believe that viewing a beautiful work of art can provide the viewer with temporary respite from the strain & pressures of daily life. In each painting, my goal is the same: to invite the viewer to step through the frame and into the scene relax and share a quiet moment in a wonderful place that I've discovered.
