I was born in Savannah, GA. After obtaining a degree in journalism and social work, I returned to my first love, art. I began painting realism, mostly wildlife.
Recently, I’ve been experimenting with more impressionistic paintings and portraits. My preferred medium is acrylics for blocking in basic form and tones on the canvas. Then I use oils to develop the painting until it is time to let it go. I plan the outcome before even touching the brush with paint but usually end up deviating a bit before the painting is finished.
My new series: Women of Merit will be out in the summer of 2014. What is a woman of merit? A woman that overcomes an obstacle that stares her in the face. She may be me. She may be you. Our weakness becomes our strength when our first step becomes the footprint we leave. It is fascinating to look at a woman’s evolution – to follow her path from the first spark of trying on that new hat. Women of Merit cross mountains. And sometimes we’re lucky enough to witness a moment in their story.
p.s. Some fascinating women fell more along the “Non-Merit” lines. They may be in pictures too.
