I do not write in the third person when talking about my art, anymore than I talk in the third person when I am visiting with a friend over a cup of coffee. I can tell you that art has been a major part of my life, all of my life.
Before multiple sclerosis knocked me flat, I was a canvas and easel artist working mostly in oils and acrylics. My first memories of drawing started as a 3-year-old child. Apparently, I found an old can of house paint and using a stick, managed to pry the lid off the can, then used the same stick to 'paint' the side of the storage shed, as far up as a 3-year-old can reach.
Now, 100% of the art in Songs of Thunder Gallery, my gallery, is created by digital means. I start every work on the Microsoft program, 'Paintbrush', on a blank, white page. One by one each line is hand drawn in using only the computer mouse. Some of the works on this site are strictly Paintbrush creations. Most, however, have been finished with Adobe Photoshop Elements. That program allows for shadows, highlights, and blending of lines. Again, the digital works are all mine, 100% original. I never manipulate photographs nor do I import scanned works. What you see is what you get. Historic lighthouses, scenes from Europe, Wyoming, birds, people and flowers are displayed with storms and seascapes.
My works have been called naive, primitive, trite, simplistic, and 'not really art' owing to their methods of creation. Nonetheless, they exist. I am proud of them, offer them for sale, and now make them available on F.A.A. Print on Demand. Please enjoy my online gallery. Stop and say hello.
