SOUTHWEST ARTISANS' COOPERATIVE ~ Bringing Together Artist and Community

Southwest Artisans' Cooperative (SAC) was founded and organized April 18, 2007 by Richard Hillman, Norma Sigretto, and Lessandra Grimley. All three artists live in the corner of the tri-state area of Arizona, Nevada and California. Seeing a need for a place where local artists could gather to display and sell their artwork, they started their journey, step-by-step, day by day, week after week preparing for an art co-op, until finally, nine months later their dream came to fruition - and they now have a Gallery!

There are now twenty-one members in the co-op, with a wonderful combination of talents - watercolor and oil painting, pottery, sculpture, jewelry, printmaking, gourds, fabric art and more. Our artisans' creations range from paintings of watercolor, oil, pastels, multimediums, collages, as well as lithographs, etchings and monoprints. We have some gifted potters who hand-throw, wheel-throw their clay to produce awesome pieces of Southwestern art. We have several artists who create beautiful, unique, one-of-a-kind jewelry, and each artist has his/her very own distinct style; with some using natural stones and metals, and others dichroic glass fusion. Southwest Artisans' Cooperative will also have a display of art cards and notecards. All of our products can be purchased.

SAC also has estabilished an art curriculum. We have classes in acrylic painting, mixed media techniques, collage, wire-wrap jewelry, and art glass. On Wednesdays the co-op has an Open Studio from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM for $10. Open to all artists who want to get together with other artists and work on their own projects or participate in a still life or, from time to time, a live model. Acrylics, oil, pastel, watercolor, charcoal, and other mediums acceptable. No turpentine allowed but odor-free turpenoid is permitted.
