About Speakthunder Berry

Born in central Oregon and raised between his home town of Warm Springs, Or. and his mothers hometown Tacoma, Wa. Mr. Speakthunder aquired his family name from his great grandfather out of the ft. Belknap Reservation(Montana), who was not allowed to have an 'indian' name to go to battle in the great war era (later known as WW1).
George Speakthunder Sr. enlisted in the U.S. military to live out the warrriors' dream and go to battle as many of his anncestors did before him. At the time the U.S. militarys' strict segragation laws would not allow an 'indian' name on the roster for battle, as they were reluctant with inlistees who were not white.
Fortunately there were loop-holes that would allow him to fight but they usually came with a price. On this occasion George Speakthunder Sr. would have to do the unthinkable, he would change his family name to see any action and officially be apart of the U.S. military. A decision that would affect his childrens childrens children.
Bruce 'Speakthunder' Berry was born of his father, Byron Wayne Berry, and his father George Berry jr., and his father George Berry Sr.... That is the story of the lost Speakthunder name.

-Music bio:
Philosipher, poet, fine artist, song writer, rapper and producer- Mr. Speakthunder was born and raised on the Warm Springs Reservation of Oregon where through his struggles on this modern day concentration camp molded his style and exicution of his music today.
Growing up in peverty with some of the highest rates of drug abuse, alcohol abuse, suicide, murder etc.. Mr. Speakthunders' mind and way of Life on the 'Rez' and the influence of rap legends like 2pac gave birth to what is known in the Native communities through-out north America as 'REZ LIFE'- the firs nations' version of 2pacs' 'thug life' movement.
In this life style Mr. Speakthunder learned how to survive the streets and also find himself in his own tradion and values of his people. His music tells the story of his and his peoples' lives as of today and reflects the lives of countles first Nations people.
Over all, we all relate to the many great struggles, trials and tribulations in our lives, for in this world we are all children on this mother earth who struggle to live and live to struggle together.

-Early artistic development:
Bruce 'Speakthunder' Berry, born in madras Oregon, raised both on the Warm Springs reservation in central oregon and the Puyallup reservation in Washington where he attended an all native school-Chief Leschi.
