Sue Kemp - Fine Artist

Texas artist, Sue Kemp, has been painting for over 25 years and is a faculty member of The Art School of the Austin Museum of Art. Her watercolors have appeared in eight books, including a children’s picture book. She was a featured artist in WATERCOLOR MAGAZINE, Summer- 2003 and is included in The Best of Watercolor-Painting Color, Splash 7, Painting Great Paintings from Photographs, The Encyclopedia of Watercolor Landscape Techniques and others. Her paintings of Tuscany illustrated an article in Adventure Cyclist Magazine, January, 2005, entitled “Tuscany, the Hills, the Gelato”. Her paintings have been accepted into many prestigious shows, earning her signature membership in Southwestern Watercolor Society and Purple Sage Brush membership in Texas Watercolor Society. She is also an active member of Capitol Art Society, Waterloo Watercolor Group and Third Coast Artists.
Sue’s large, close up painting of bluebonnets was chosen for the official 2007 “Wildflower Days” poster for the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. She was commissioned by the San Antonio Conversation Society to paint a watercolor of A Night in Old San Antonio in La Villita for the 2007 “NIOSA” poster. She was also the 2001 poster artist.
Sue has traveled to Europe and Central America and enjoys capturing the flavor of these interesting places in watercolor, as well as her own beautiful state of Texas. She is a native of Dallas and has lived in Austin since 1987.
