I have been an artist since the third grade. I loved and still do all the different mediums, the textures, the feel of paint on my fingers. I have been a professional artist for over 20 years. I have an MFA in printmaking/drawing and use printmaking a lot in my recent works. I also write poetry and have a line of jewelry available on etsy.com--womanonfiredesigns on etsy.com. This jewelry is made from paint pieces off my palette, and started as a bit of an accident. Now I sell it across the USA., in museum shops and galleries.
In the last few years I have become more aware of my intuitive abilities, and it became obvious to me that a lot of the images in my work are inspired by my sensitivity to energy and my ability to translate messages from other dimensions. The ability to convey feelings through my work is important to me, for I feel we are surrounded by so much superficiality in our daily lives.
I meditate before I begin to paint, then the painting speaks to me through its layers as I build them up, often using a printing technique in which I lay the canvas on the floor of my studio, and step onto blocks that I have carved. Some of these are as small as 3 inches, and some as large as 2 feet across. It is a very vigorous process.
