Susan F. Greaves delivers paint to her artworks in a way that communicates the enthusiasm she felt as she stood before her subject. In over thirty years as a professional artist, she has caught the attention of jurors and collectors throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe. Her oil paintings are based on careful observation and direct execution and would be called a painterly realist or impressionist style.
Though speaking with her own voice, her work reflects her training with master teachers William F. Reese, Sergei Bongart, Ned Jacob, Harley Brown, and Bettina Steinke. She states, ' I have an academic degree that has added breadth to my life, but studying with these teachers gave me uncommon insights not available from other sources.'

When asked, she cannot name a favorite subject. 'I become equally involved with the challenges of open landscapes, city scenes, gorgeous florals, light on a model’s skin, or equine musculature.' Her range and depth are apparent in her prolific work.
Professional recognition in the form of signature membership has been extended to Greaves by Knickerbocker Artists, Alla Prima International, Society of Master Impressionists, and master signature membership in Plein Air Painters Northwest Society. She is, also, an associate member of Oil Painters of America. Over 50 awards have come her way.
