The Cowboy world pretty much has always overshadowed the softer side of this life, the wife who is a quarenteed all American Western Cowgirl Artist. My artwork is a collection of my memories in acrylics, water colors & pencils.I have done some oils & photography, jewelry. We spent a great deal life working on ranches in Ariz.,Calif & Pecos,Texas. We worked cattle & the boys competed in high school rodeo.I drove the rig.
Rode colts, thanks to the help of my brother in law who put up with me. Cowboyed on some ranches & day worked. Love to paint cattle, horses, kids & colts.....i love it all from long haired little cowgirls to branding crews & shipping pens. I have friends from rodeo, to sale barns, bull riding cowgirls, & barrel racing fools.....they love it! The Great American cowboy/ranch life. We have lived on cow camps. It is a wonderful life.
Whatever pulls at my heart I love to put down on canvas.
I am a self taught artist for the most part. Just kinda fell into it, here & there, every now & then somebody would take pity on me,& lend a hand.
Gave me the opportunity to learn something.
But for the most part my artwork was kinda like my cowboying...something needed to get done. Wherever we would live, I would paint something go to town, hopefull to sell it. In Pecos, Tx. the Pecos Museum showcased my photography & art work in their gift shop & in the cowgirl room. They were wonderful to me.That was the beginning of me, getting more serious. Evidently I am a slow learner, & actually kinda scared to put my art work out there. For the most part we needed something to hang on the wall.
We have a cowgirl web store:www.cowboywifethangs.com started out as cowgirl jewelry & it keeps evolving. Cowgirl artwork on conchos, it just seems I cannot get away from the artwork. We got fashion pg.,cowgirl humor, I mean life is funny. We can't make this stuff up! Maybe, that is what artists do, their always in some state of flux.
We have always lived in little towns.Still do, actually all we have is a post office. We have moved alot in our life, met alot of wonderful people.Had a ball.No regrets. Texas has been good to us...we thank God for it.
I paint or draw what pulls at my heart, I love chalk, & pencils, watercolors, acrylics & oils, but cannot take the chemicals in oils anymore. Not that I do all things well, but I do want to get better. I paint my memories, Ya'll come on over anytime. we can sit on the porch & visit awhile. Happy trails, enjoy your ride!
