Born in Bristol, Virginia, USA. Jamestown, North Carolina, has been Susan's home for the past thirty years, where she lives with her husband and raised their two grown children. After working in the corporate world for 13 years then home educating both her children and caring for elderly parents, she decided it was time to return to the love of her childhood...ART. So, in 2004 painting began a new, much enjoyed phase of life for her.
She primarily works with acrylics and mixed media on canvas. Her paintings are a study in color and texture as they relate to particular subjects.
Susan took private art lessons at an early age under the late Frances Kendall of Whiteville, NC, and took 4 years of art in high school in Radford, VA. Her art instructors encouraged her to experiment and try new techniques. She loves the thrill of working with different textures, mediums, and methods to find new ways of expressing herself through art. Over the years Susan has enjoyed expressing herself with pottery, pen and ink, charcoal, oil, watercolor, acrylic, sculpture, and stained glass; however, abstract painting with texture and mixed media is her favorite.
