My primary inspiration comes from the geometrical structures and processes found in nature. Geometry provides the blueprint for natural objects. Then the random forces of weather and the environment act on those structures to create aesthetically appealing anomalies. The layering process of accretion and the destructive processes of erosion and decay create intricate textures and unusual forms. I begin, as Nature does, with simple geometrical forms and then use layering processes similar to accretion and erosion to create texture and to refine the form.
My medium is best described as Mixed Media Sculpture. I use a wide variety of materials including wire mesh, fiber, glass, beads, metal, sculpting and molding compounds, paints, inks, dyes, found objects. Anything is fair game. Sometimes the final form surprises me. But I love the discovery that accompanies serendipity.
