As a young girl growing up in Rhodesia, Africa, I used to spend a lot of time wandering around the country side, (see bush to the locals), playing in rivers, body surfing them when in full flood, climbing trees, shooting my brother and our friends from a catty using Syringa berries as bullets. Lovely long hot summer days and cool winter ones. Always out of doors. I started to draw and finger paint at the age of 3. I never stopped. My training during High School was accelerated as I was allowed to drop History and attend whatever Art class was going on during my classes' history lesson. After school I went to College and got a Diploma in Applied Art and Design specialising in Textile Design. I have continued to draw and paint and design all through my life. In the last 15 years I began to play with fabric dyes and developed a unique way of dying fabric. I now dye fabric then paint items onto the dyed background. From time to time I sit down and paint something from scratch, meaning not onto an dyed background. The flowers in my shop are all 'from scratch'. The other paintings I have of African Animals, Sea Life and birds are onto pre-dyed fabric. These all can be bought from my shop on Etsy.com. etsy.com/shop/Sylviesartonfabric
