I live on the S.E. Georgia Coast & I am a wife, mother, grandmother of 5, art educator and multi-media artist.
I have loved art all of my life and have been a free spirited creator & giver, all of my life.
I'm drawn to kind people, old people, and God. I am in awe of miracles. I LOVE creative children and their art.
I am now on my last 5 year 'stretch' of teaching elementary art at a local Department of Defense school.
To date, I have had the privilege of teaching & inspiring the lives of over 6000 soldier’s children.
I want to continue to spread my enthusiasm & love for art as far and wide as I can until I breathe my last breath~
Since the emphasis of my education and training was primarily in the education areas of art, I feel justified in considering myself a folk artist.
I simply learned very little over and above what was previously self taught.
I have experimented in most all mediums and my work has slowly evolved from pencil drawing, pen & ink, painting, pastels, clay sculpture, collage, paper mosaics and photography, to mixtures of all of the above. My subject matter is always evolving also. I never limit myself to any subject matter or just one medium but instead, work in a variety of mediums and I let my mood dictate the subject matter. Most times, I start with a slightly distressed background color and allow my heart and hands to dictate what I do next...My original 2D works are created on hard wood panels with gallery style, deep edges so that no framing is needed. Wood is definitely (but not my only) surface of choice. I like to work both 'big and small', with my largest (non-mural) work to date being a 5' x 6' size..
Over the past 20 years, I have been commissioned to create many art works, including murals.. Among the works I've created have ranged from realistic and funky, stylized nature/animal/plant/landscape scenes to quite a few of my own 'glorified memory' portraits that are art works creatively portraying & memorializing loved ones who have passed away. Some of the memory portraits have been traditional type paintings but my most favorite way to create one is by using photomontage combined with paint, collage and paper mosaic. I have sold many art works and I keep many art works. Now that my walls and loved one's walls are full, I have decided to spread my creative wings and go public. Thank you, loved ones and friends, for encouraging my creativity!
I do accept most commissioned work.
It is my hope & prayer that others will visually appreciate my creations even if a purchase is never made &
I welcome relative & appropriate comments from other artists, as well as, art lovers all over the world.
Peace, Love and to GOD, be the glory~
