I am a self-taught artist who began drawing at an early age. I have always loved working in graphite and pen and ink designing and creating realistic and analytical images for family and friends. My ability to capture every detail in my art stems from my education in the sciences that taught me to pay close attention to all those little things that often go unnoticed or unappreciated.
Although my recent work is botanical illustration my primary interest is portraiture which I love to draw in graphite. I have always loved black and white photography feeling that it captured the true essence of the subject and I feel that by using graphite, I can capture the intricate details of the face - the laugh lines, the soul behind the eyes and the facial lines that tell the story of the individuals' life journey.
I often add pen and ink to my work to express detail but mostly I use it to create caricature designs. I also work in colored pencil, pastel, oil, watercolor and acrylic, sometimes mixing the media for accent.
I reside in Ramona, California but travel frequently to Denver, Colorado where I am a member of the Denver Botanical Gardens, and pursuing my Certification in their School of Botanical Art and Illustration.
When I'm not drawing I can often be found glued to my computer working in Photoshop designing and creating graphic works for special occasions. I am available for commission work in all media.
If you like my work please let me know, comments are always appreciated. Thank you for stopping by and taking a look.
