Terris studied and practiced the art of Tibetan Thangka painting in Nepal from 1966 to 1975 with various Tibetan Masters beginning in 1966 with the State Artist of Tibet, the late Jampa Tseden. During the next 10 years he studied with other teachers of various lineages. He is unique among Western artists in that his contemporary art works reflect the knowledge and experience they have of Tibetan Buddhist art and culture. Temple Art Studios accepts commissioned work in both Buddhist traditional and contemporary art forms in sizes ranging from small to monumental. Terris express his individual styles in his personal work while continuing to make significant contributions in the field of Tibetan art. His medium is mineral and botanical pigments on silk. He is currently the artist to His Holiness the 17th Karmapa and Tsurphu Monastery, Tibet.
