Welcome to my Fine Art America pages. I hope you will enjoy my paintings and find something that touches your heart. Each work is a labor of love. After a fifteen-year career in retail advertising, I had the opportunity to leave the corporate world and focus on my art. Over the past 20 years I focused mainly on pet portraits. My years in dog rescue (fostering hundreds of animals) and pet sitting have provided extensive experience with various species and breeds, and this knowledge is reflected in my work.
My career as an artist didn't start with pet portraits, and it doesn't end there either. I love painting landscapes, florals and other subjects. I work in watercolor, acrylic, colored pencil, and sometimes pastels. I have incorporated scenery and florals into my pet artwork, and like to branch out and make these the subjects of my work, not just the background. I am available for commissioned paintings of the subject of your choice.
One of my favorite projects is a 'memory painting.' I have drawn the home where my grandparents raised their seven children, and St. Michael's Mount in England where they courted. For one client, I painted an old family home, and had prints made so each person in the family could have a special keepsake depicting the place where they made so many loving memories. My clients are personally involved with the subject matter that I draw for them. Itís not unusual to see tears in their eyes when I present them with the finished piece.
I received my bachelorís degree in fine arts from Whittier College, and continued my education at Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles. I currently work out of my home in Poway, California, where I live with 3 dogs, 3 horses, and 3 cats.
My art has been exhibited in the Art Show At The Dog Show and the AKC Museum of the Dog. I have also had commissions from many local and national dog breed clubs.
