I am a watercolor artist and I truly enjoy the hunt for subjects that captivate and intrigue me. I look for inspiration in natural or man-made places or subjects that I find personally interesting. When I find a subject that inspires me I think of what is the best way for me to capture that place and time. It usually involves taking many pictures of my subject while paying attention to color, contrast and composition.
I work in different mediums but I feel that my realistic style of watercolor best captures my passion for exploring the outdoors. Most of my watercolor subjects are landscapes. I find that watercolors are ideal for capturing the soft shadows, bleeds, and subtle colors that landscapes demand. I use washes to capture the transparency, luminosity and reflections of water and then follow with small brush strokes to provide the texture of waves. The sky is the compass to all of my paintings for it determines the direction of light, color, shadows and contrast for everything else.
My artwork can be found in private collections in the United States and Europe.
