ABOUT: Tom is a freelance professional photographer of Fine Art and Stock images. A lifetime naturalist, he loves the outdoors and feels a responsibility to use his skills to create awareness of our treasured resources and scenic landscapes. He specializes in scenic landscapes, nature, abstract and semi-abstract in nature. Thomas creates unique and expressive landscapes with a style all his own. He resides in the scenic Litchfield Hills of northwestern Connecticut. Capturing the essence and pace of time of his native New England is his single most passionate subject. Tom is a juried member of the 'New England Photographers Guild'

ARTIST STATEMENT: My goal is to create original Fine Art Photographs. I concentrate on selling 'Quality over Quantity' and meeting the high standards set for Fine Art Photographers. The process is characterized by attention to detail and deliberate actions, being observant to capture the scene in appropriate lighting. Every image is a composite of combining technical excellence and being artistically inspiring. I do not allow the camera to make decisions for me, as it is a cold mechanical device that does not express my passion or feelings for the scene before me.
Capturing the key ingredients of a dynamic composition is quite exhilarating. An interesting subject, dramatic lighting and visual impact are some of the ingredients I seek out. The images I create share my unique personal vision for the subject before me. I am in awe of nature and deeply influenced to connect with people through my photography.

STOCK PHOTOGRAPHY: I am a 'rights managed' photographer, meaning I do not allow others to represent my work or negotiate license agreements. I respond to all inquires about using my photography cheerfully and diligently when I am approached in a professional and courteous manner. Requesting use of my work in return for a 'photo credit' is NOT considered proper on any level. My rates are fair and affordable. When inquiring about using my photography for any purpose, I request you provide me with very specific details about your project or publication. Thank you for your patience.

Photo Of The Day From Acadia National Park

New Preston, CT - August 9th, 2012

A new addition to the Galleries of Thomas Schoeller has just been announced. Aptly titled "Magical Light" from the scenic coastline of Maine's Acadia National Park. The sheer 110' drop of Otter Cliffs are visible in the backdrop as a long exposure of the pounding surf on the cobblestones of Boulder beach capture the ethereal movement of the ocean. The rare occurance of alpine glow transforms the scene to an epic landscape. The cool blues of twilight juxtaposed to the warm diffused morning light as they radiate off the pink granite just add to the drama. This is definitely one scenic landscape that deserves to be printed on Metal. Metallic prints can transform the brilliant luminance of the scene like no other media. Also be sure to check out the all new Gallery dedicated to Panoramic landscapes!

Poets And Writers Publishes Thomas Schoeller Artwork

New Preston, CT - March 4th, 2012

The spring issue of Poets & Writers magazine is available now, and the focus of the magazines March/April 2012 issue is the Spring guide to writers retreats. The feature article is based on the Literary seminar being held in "Hemingways Key West", including reports from the past and related articles on writers residency. For this article, the magazine contacted professional photographer Thomas Schoeller about some work he created that caught the eye of one of the magazines editor assistants. The image depicts a portion of the "Old Town-Key West" neighborhood along Caroline Street bathed in the soft warm glow of the setting sun before it dipped below the distant horizon. The photograph was brought to the attention of Managing editor Suzanne Pettypiece, and within a week it was decided as the center spread for pages 54 and 55.

Cornwall Bridge Pottery store owner and operator Todd Piker and local Connecticut photographer Thomas Schoeller have collaborated on a merchandise endeavor at the Cornwall Bridge store location. Pikers unique store is located in the picturesque village of West Cornwall, Connecticut. Famous for it's 170 year old covered bridge and gorgeous setting spanning the rapids of the Housatonic River.
