Tony King was born in the rolling hills of Morgan Co. Kentucky.His love for art began at a very early age . As a child he spent many afternoons with a local sign artist in in his home town, watching and learning what ever he could. '' I love art , it doesn't matter the medium, it's all facinating to me'' he has quoted many times. He has always known that he wanted become an artist. Staying true to his dream, he constantly produced as much artwork as he could on a daily basis. Tony experimented with several mediums, including oil, pastel, watercolor,and pencil. He found that shading and contrast with the pencil medium was by far the most challenging.It all began when he produced a portrait of a well known sports figure. The uniform,glove leather and the shading of the hat on the face were such a challenge to produce, but an extremely rewarding feeling when the piece was complete.Since then he has enjoyed bringing subgects to life on paper. After completing high school, Tony studied at the Cooper school of art ,for a short period. He then had private instruction by Gene Burlson,a prominent illustrator in his area. Tony relocated to Anchorage Ak. In the early 90's where he discovered a wonderful world of art and culture.While working in the advertising industry, he enjoyed creating origional and commissioned works.He began issuing limited edition prints and enjoyed succsess in the local galleries.In the late 90's he once again relocated to Northern California, were he opened a small gallery that featured his origional works.After traveling extensivly through out the U.S and a few forign countries, he is now returned home to stay in the beautiful hills of Eastern Ky.
