We are currently offering prints of two paintings by Gyula Madarasz. Gyula learned to draw and paint in his father's studio in Budapest, Hungary. He brings to his work boundless consummate skill and discipline. The foundations for his immense technical expertise and absolute control of the medium were laid during his many years of traditional apprenticeship and subsequently when he worked on his own. During the first years in the United States he and his wife traveled widely throughout the country while under contract with Holiday on Ice. It was at this time that the American landscape and the facial characteristics of the people captured his imagination. he developed a uniquely American sense of freedom in his paintings, especially in his use of space. He found in the people whom he met the personification of the openness of the vast expanse of the country. While traditional continental foundations provided him with his technical skills, it is the freedom he found in America that inspired the development of his unique style. All prints are limited edition and personally signed.
