Valerie Fuqua was born and raised in the Chicagoland area and currently resides in Downers Grove. Her love of creating began as a young child and has consistently gained momentum. Valerie has dabbled in batik, acrylics, interior design, floral design and fashion merchandising, but mosaics and photography have captured her heart.
Valerie has exhibited her work in juried shows, exhibits and galleries across the country. Her work has been featured in Horticulture Magazine, The Daily Herald and most recently her art was featured in Brit Hammer-Dijck’s book, “Mosaic: Finding Your Own Voice” which showcases the best in international mosaics. A recent highlight of Valerie’s career was her contribution of a mural section that will be installed at the Australia Zoo in honor of the late Steve Irwin.
When Valerie is not working on her art, she enjoys spending time with her husband and dogs, meeting other artists and observing the colorful world around her.
