During five years studied fine arts in Krasnodar University (Russia).
In 1979 started career of book-designer in publishing house ' Stiinta'.
From 1980 till 1991 worked in the publishing house 'Cartea Moldoveneasca'.
That period he illustrated over three hundred books, designed many booklets, posters, cards and got Silver Price in annual competition of book-designers of Moldova.
Since the end of 1991 Valeriu Buev is a free artist.
In 2006 Valeriu Buev published a book of short stories and poems.
