Wayne Benedet

I began taking pictures in 1975 while I was living in Brandon, Manitoba.

In 1979/80 I studied photography at Confederation College in Thunder Bay Ontario. I moved back to the prairies and have lived here ever since.

Over the years I have done work for a variety of individuals and organizations including many yearly reports for non-profit organizations.

My prints hang in the Provincial Building in Flin Flon, Manitoba. They can also been seen at Canadian Mennonite University in Winnipeg Manitoba.

I received an honourable mention for my work, from the Northern Juried Art Show, when I lived in Thompson Manitoba. In the last two years work from 'An Old Ride' has been selected by the Central Juried Art show to tour.

'The Old Ride - Classics in the Rough' is a collection of Giclée images of old cars and trucks on canvas. It is touring the province from November 2008 to January 2011. The full collection can be seen at: http://thaumadzo.deviantart.com/gallery/#An-Old-Ride. Selections from this collection were published in a limited edition book released in the fall of 2009.

I live in rural Canada on the prairies. So a lot of my work is about the area in which I live. I teach photography for Red River College, Winker Campus. The concepts of art within photography are very important to me, and it is something that I stresses in my work and teaching.
