Originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan, Wayne D. Vander Jagt studied art at The University of New Mexico, Kendall School of Design and Grand Valley State College. He served as a technical illustrator for the United States Air Force. After being honorably discharged, he worked as a self employed artist/craftsman for nine years in Michigan, where he sold his works to shops and to the public at art fairs.
Wayne worked as a designer/draftsman for several engineering and architectural firms for the next twenty seven years. Earlier this year he wrote and illustrated a children’s book for his grandson. He’s been painting water color paintings around south Florida and West Michigan for the past three years.
'The Art on the Riverfront Committee and Grand Haven Area Arts Council would like to congratulate Wayne Vander Jagt on winning the 2011 Art on the Riverfront Poster Contest. We had a lot of great entries this year and it was hard for our jury and the GHAAC to come to an agreement. Thank you to everyone that entered and look for our posters to start popping up around West Michigan mid July.” The painting which was chosen is, LAKE MICHIGAN SUNSET.

I haven't painted anything for a long while as my right shoulder gave out and required a total joint replacement. I'm currently doing physical therapy and hoping to recover.
