A photograph is a tiny bit of time captured for the viewer. I try to present the image as an event that the viewer can experience. I want the viewer to participate in the event. Imagine the feel of the sun on your back, the movement of air, sounds, and the smells and become part of the event. The photograph is but a catalyst that opens the viewer to a greater experience.
I wore a rut in the roadways going back and forth to work. I watched the world change as the seasons progressed and I desired to record the beautiful and unusual. Now retired I have the time to explore the landscape and record whatever captures my interest. I don't try to take the perfect photo, rather I try to photograph as close to nature as my skills allow. Most of the time I am happy to share the results. For example: If I photograph a flower and a bug is also using the flower, it becomes part of the picture. Why should I tell the insect to leave. Its his world also.
We share this world with lots of creatures. These creatures are part of the world I record. In fact, some of my friends search every photo looking for critters. It has become a game.
