Wendy Chua - Fine Artist
My goal is to express my feelings and emotions primarily through the texture of my paint. Some say my work is realism with a tinge of impressionist. I would just say it is a symphony of brush strokes, colours and imagination.
It was the time living in Europe that exposed Wendy to a wide spectrum of arts forms, from sculptures and paintings to performing art. She was particularly attracted to the powerful brush strokes of Van Gogh and the breathtaking beauty of Monet’s impressionist interpretation of landscape.
Upon returning to Malaysia, she was continuously inspired by the vibrancies of the local Malaysian art scene. In 2003 she decided to take up oil painting under the tutelage of a gifted local artist Mr. Apollo Hui. Her first group exhibition was in Nov 2006 in Gallery Chinwoo, Chinwoo Athletic Association, Kuala Lumpur. Encouraged by the enthusiasm she received from her work; her second exhibition was in a private function in July 2008 at Ikano Power Center, showcasing series of work revolving around the places that she has been, such as the Amsterdam flower shop, Egyptian tea stall and a backlane in Beijing.
Wendy left the corporate world in 2006 to channel her energy in helping others grow and develop. She worked as a para-counsellor for AWAM and was a facilitator with the AIDS Awareness program for the teenagers. She is currently pursuing a degree in Organizational Psychology with University of London and an executive coach by profession.
Inspired by nature, her latest series around the flower theme is an expression of her hopes for humanities and in celebrating life – the joy, the struggle, the breakthrough and the growth.
