Saint Augustine artist, Wendy Tatter is one of the few artists who specialize in batik, the process of painting on fabric with wax and dyes.
Tatter was introduced to the process 25 years ago in San Miguel de Allende, where she attended Instituto Allende. Although there to study photography, Wendy was hooked on batik after one course.
After traveling extensively throughout the Caribbean and Central and South America ( including a seven year stay in Costa Rica and four years in Brasil) Wendy became a member of the Butterfield Garage Gallery in Saint Augustine, enjoying three years with the co-op.. Then in 2005 the W.B.Tatter Studio/ Gallery opened it's doors for the first time. Now, in her own shop, Wendy creates framed pieces as well as colorful pillows, sarongs and scarfs as you watch. Stop in to enjoy the Caribbean feel and the soothing smell of hot beeswax as you enjoy Wendy's designs. Wendy features a guest artist the last Saturday and Sunday of each month.
Please stop by and visit Wendy at 76 A San Marco Avenue in Saint Augustine, Florida or visit her on the world wide web at www.wbtatter.com.
