Animals and the woods make me happy, so that is where I live and photograph, on the same piece of ground where I was raised. Even though I use digital, of course, I cannot give up the darkroom. I am self-taught to some extent, but after a while, wanting to learn more, attended many classes and workshops and photographed for the sheriff's office for a few years. Photography, wildlife and the woods, kept me sane through a stressful job, and I hope somehow people will learn to respect and enjoy nature rather than to destroy it.
One of my favorite quotes is: 'What is man without the beasts? If all the beasts were gone, men would die from a great loneliness of spirit. For whatever happens to the beasts, soon happens to man. All things are connected.' --Chief Seattle
