Most of the paintings here are from my surrounding area. Usually I go out on Friday with a group for company, but half the time i don't like where they go, but I go anyway and try to find something of interest that strikes what I'm looking for, which is usually a bit off beat, behind a house or farm barn, or down an alley. Pretty scenes don't interest me. I should qualify that by saying 'pretty' in the sense of 'post card' view. At times i fail to see what I'm looking at and get bad results because of my laziness to really wait until I see what I want. I draw. I am not a plain-air painter. I've started too many paintings on location that just don't seem to go any where, so i draw. return to my studio anf work them up. Some folks like to take photos and return to their studio. Not for me. We each have our way.
