I am a multimedia artist whose inspiration first took form in pottery, then
decorative painting, and now photography. The common thread in my work has
been textures; they are my muse, a visual expression of ordered chaos that I find
both unpredictable and beautiful.
I have spent many years creating one-of-a-kind organic, original textures and
I have an extensive collection. I have most recently applied my textures to a unique
new form of visual artwork by fusing them with my photographs. As a result, my
photos take on a life beyond the two dimensional, blurring the lines between
photography and fine art. The question I hear most often is 'Is this a photograph
or a painting?' In these pieces, the natural beauty of the photograph is enhanced
by the textures and elicits the emotional impact of a painting.
The source and inspiration for my photographs is my love for the outdoors.
People, wildlife, and landscapes are all equally fascinating to me. Each of my images
is the result of patient time spent in the field and my digital darkroom. South Jersey
is my home and provides an endless stream of imagery throughout the year.
To further enhance the images, I print them on high-quality textured linen,
metallic and artist paper, then hand color with oil pastels to make them more
authentic, complex, and tactile. My goal for each piece is to capture the beauty of
the moment and invoke a personal reaction and inspiration.
