The last flowers of autumn are still bravely blooming. I noticed that even the flowers in autumn seem to be more gold and orange than pink or red.

I wanted to see if I could make a grey day look interesting, and not dull. I hope I succeeded with this painting of a grey day on Ocean Drive in Newport, RI.

When looking for a good subject, sometimes you don't have to go far. This little garden is right beside my driveway, but the autumn light coming in low made the flowers glow.

This pink rose has an internal glow, caught by the sunlight. I painted it in honor of Aunt Rosie, whose favorite flower was the pink rose.

The lake at Veteran's Park is usually too riffled to reflect well, and this day was no exception. The clouds were forming and breaking, dark and light.

The sun was falling through the trees making a pathway where there was none. You can see the lake behind the trees, and on the distant shore, more trees.

This is a view of sunlit azaleas through a shaded rock garden at Sayen Gardens Park. Every year on Mother's Day, they have an Azalea Festival at Sayen Gardens in Hamilton Square, NJ.

This painting of the view from my front porch was done on an overcast day, threatening rain all day. I used a palette knife on gessoboard.

This is a closeup view of the tide pools below the rocks at Bass Rocks, Gloucester, MA. It was painted using a palette knife.

I love my front porch. It's shady in the morning, but the light from the back yard bounces off the ceiling, and shines on the bushes along the side. Joe keeps flowers in pots in the summer, to give it that bright and cheerful, homey look.

This painting is of a pond on the farm where Daniel Garber, a famous Pennsylvania impressionist, lived. It was a rainy day, so the light is subdued. It was actually drizzling while I painted this.

Just before the season opens, it's a little cold, and the beach is windy and empty. I just love that!

This scene was directly across the street from our inn at Barnegat Light, NJ. It was sunset, and the beautiful colors were reflected in the water. Then the seagull flew into the picture to make it perfect!
