Having always loved the outdoors, plein air painting came naturally. My outdoor paintings serve as references to larger, more abstract paintings in the studio. My work has evolved into distinct styles, one in which I playfully capture the subject with line, shape and color, and another which ranges from mild abstraction to a more non-objective style. Recent landscapes have taken on a greater emotional impact, carrying the viewer to depths beyond the surface application of line and texture. The rivers, marshlands and rich colors of the sky have become fresh muses that are eager to show up on canvas.
