Posted by: Judy Kay on 01/19/2013 - 8:35 AM

Just curious...I was invited to join this website. Is anyone familiar with it? http://klout.com/home

unless they have a cover page of who they are and what they want, i don't want them to have my info for nothing.

i always thought klout was a cheap knock off soap.

I was invited by one of my FAA/Facebook likes....Basically, it measures how much Klout you have...I already know ...none!

It's a way to measure your social media presence/ impact which may or may not be accurate depending on whose articles you read.

i wonder how it measures it by, and what they get out of it.

There was some hoopla a while back when they changed their process and everyone's numbers fell through the floor. Apparently marketing managers had been gauged on how successful they were at their jobs, with raises and bonuses tied to these Klout numbers. I stopped using it at that point.

They record how many people respond to your tweets/g+/facebook posts, how many followers you have and so on to give you a score, so you can do different things to improve. I think their income is based on outside advertising just like any other site.

Ken mentions that in his free eBook

i don't see how it will help me though. even if i had a score of a 100, the only thing that matters is - am i making sales from my efforts?

Since you're a self-described social media lazy-person (and I don't mean that in a critical way), you probably shouldn't bother as you are already making sales from little marketing effort, but I think a fledgling interest in marketing will show that the more interest in You, the more in your product, and being able to measure that interest and guide it in a quantifiable way is important. As one becomes more influential, sales should follow.

I do find it odd that when it lists all the high scoring folks to the left in one area of my profile page that Klout only

has an 86..how do they only have an 86? My thing is I forget about Klout. SO many things to thing and worry

over then do other things it can be overwhelming at times.

I already know I would be a "0" on any barometer. I get no retweets and less than 10 views a day. Most views are robotic. No sense in wasting any more time in that area. If I get 6in 2013 or so sales a year, that's a miracle enough. That is more than I would get out of the stock market for $30.00. So I'm happy. In 2012 I got 4 sales with no tweeting, and I don't want any part of FB. I have enough work to do processing images.

My Klout is only 54 :(

Posted by: Judy Kay on 01/20/2013 - 9:22 AM

I do not have a twitter account...Does this mean I should not use Klout...? I use google+ and Facebook 2...Can hardly keep up with that.
Elizabeth...54 out of 100?

i'm up to 40... oh i'm so happy now,.... i'm tempted to add other accounts, but eh.

Yes, you do not have to do anything on this. Just join, add your accounts and thats it basically

I may try it out for fun! How is it really different than Google Analytic's? or any other site that measures traffic...Do they take the statistics and generate a report or statistic not measured by them?

Posted by: Mike Savad on 01/22/2013 - 8:34 AM

google analytics shows you where people have been. this site just gives you a number based on whatever formula they use. it doesn't tell you much. other than i'm under rookie moms and obama. but i'm higher than billy.

i just hooked up my facebook page so i'll see if i go up from 39. i can't do my google plus probably because i'm banned from there, so that's useless.
