lol @Mike

let me guess, maybe you get nothing from it because you are not a member?

Mike Savad

i don't need to be a member to know i'm not going to get anything from it.

the problem as outlined a while back exists in that this is another random type group. if a buyer is looking for horses and they stumble into the group at least it will all be a bunch of horses. but this is a hodge podge, and while those can be fun, the reasoning of why some are accepted and why others aren't i found totally confusing and honestly not worth my time to click on the square just to have it rejected each time.

Gunter,

I never heard of your group. I'm gonna' have to agree with mike on this. From a SEO standpoint, I see nothing in the title nor the description of your group that would be keyword-beneficial in a search. And I don't even know if groups are utilized in the FAA search.

I think you would have been better off with a corny title such as The Best of Fine Art America. As it stands, I see nothing that will attract a potential buyer to it and don't think they will even know the group exists. If it's a place to parade and inflate egos and pat each other on the back, that is fine. But I don't think it will help participants sell.

As far as the website goes, it's already been done and they have garnered far more attention than you will probably ever get. It's called 500px or even 1X

I leave it to you all to debate its effectiveness at finding new buyers. But it is a neat gallery to look through. You can drive traffic to it and anyone in the mood for art will find lots of beautiful choices.

Thanks for your input Benjamin. Our site has generated me personally 242 page views for over four hours viewing from two blog posts this month. It's new, but that's a good start. We are certainly not a 500px type site. Our site is designed to sell art. We have no control over the SEO for the group on FAA, but we do on our site.

Hmmmmm, never heard of it? I remember you participating in the discussions when we opened and also remember you as a short term member. Sorry we were not able to boost your ego and pat you on the back.
Thank you for bringing my attention to 500px, I think I will delete Q, we don't want 2 pages with the same subject and clutter up the Internet.
Certainly we cannot compete, the name "500px" reflects clearly what the page is about, it is not meaningless like "Q".
Whatsoever, thank you for comparing us to this giant, a great compliment ............. :)

Perfectly fine, I still hope you enjoy some of the images we have to offer.

Floyd Snyder

I thought I had some images in the group but I just checked and seen were I was not a member.

I joined and added one image.

Here's a problem for me. I strongly believer in the old adage that you can't sell off and empty wagon.

But when I tried to add the second image, it says I can only add one a day. So, I add and image... if it is accepted, fine. But if it rejected, not so fine. I keep at this, one a day and maybe, what? 50% are rejected? So at the end of a month my wagon is still empty.

I really don't have the time to log in every day and "hope" I can get an image accepted.

Let me load 10, 15, 20 at a time and boot the ones you don't like, that don't bother me. But to add one a day and "maybe" I get one accepted and then repeat every day for a hundred days to "maybe" get 50 images accepted? Not a wise use of my time. Sorry.

I totally understand, my only request, please think the same way about my time as well.

Glad to have you aboard, will look at the submissions soon.

floyd there are much better groups then this one. that are far less picky, that are easier to be featured on, and is easier to find when looking for a group. Q collection doesn't mean much to most buyers if they should stray onto the group. where as the best of the best or something like that is a much more clear direction.

a group shouldn't be too much work. it's just another place for an image and really not much more than that. its one of the reasons i dropped out of this group the 2nd day it opened.

Some like to play rulers in a group, others do it in the forum ..........................

Here's how I submit:

There is no need to even go to the groups page. Every time I edit an image, which is about 3 a day for keyword tuning etc., I scroll down on the editing page and check the boxes next to the group name. It's always changing since I join new groups all the time.
This method is effortless and allows me to submit the same image to many groups at one time with one click.
That way I don't overload the admin and my work is always up to date.

Benjamin Yeager

Gunter, did you create the website yourself? It's very nice. I assume it has more potential for finding buyers (or funneling buyers) than the group itself here on FAA.

Floyd Snyder

I sort of feel that way about all of the contest and groups... I don't really think they do all that much for sales, but hey, I will try anything if it is free!! Plus I do like to try to fit in. Well, maybe that's stretch. lol

I market totally different then most every one else in here and in other places I sell. I use advertising that I can control. I don't rely on search engines either in FAA or Google or any others.

Today I launched paid advertising plan to see if I can stir up some phone case sales. So far I have sold one.

I used to direct all of the advertising to my FAA portfolio on the FAA main site, not my AW. When I or anyone else does that, it brings buyers to FAA and everyone benefits. Bust since the Pixel launch I can't do that any more and I am directing all ads to my AW site. That hurts everyone in FAA because now that is less traffic to FAA.

I actually think that sending people to my AW may cost me sales in the long rung. But we don't the accounting figures to be able to tell.

I am still of the opinion, not that it matters with my opinion is, that if everyone advertised their FAA portfolio and not their AW site, we would all benefit from that.

But, hey what do I know? Everyone else is working their AW so I guess I have not been in step.

I have 2150 images loaded. I have another 10,000 I can load. But I am nervous about having to promote two or three or four different sites for all of the different products that may be coming along. So I am sort of in a holding pattern. Still uploading images but at about half the pace until we see what what's.

I do agree with the power trip. Some of the contests and the groups... lighten up people! Some of the rules of entering a contest are really crazy.

was kind enough to provide the web page and does a wonderful job as he is very experienced in this field and a great photographer as well

The concept is to build a brand that is present in many places, the group here is just one part of it and is the tool and the final step get the artwork we promote to the buyers door step.

contests are different, unless it's a - post 10 of anything you want. with a contest everything is grouped up and hopefully filtered out. so post your barns, bridges and bears - and it isolates a subject better. since groups tend to be messy, many things aren't accepted right away or within months. the contest, it's all accepted. and i've gotten sales from contests - or it was a remarkable coincidence.

but when a group has no real purpose, an unrecognizable name, that doesn't describe what it is, and where the first letter can easily mean - Questionable. as some of those features in the past left me scratching my head as to what quality really means - its not useful as a group. like the if your image has over 5000 views group. or stuff like that.

for me, i send people to my artist site. they remember the name http://www.MikeSavad.com so when they type it in - without the com - google takes them right back to FAA again. so it might be moot to push the site any more than i'm doing. and with the short time they have set there it's hard to work with. i just started pushing the site on that side, but i don't see how it's helping much.

why i won't advertise pixels is - it's confusing. if pixels only had other things and no prints then maybe i would do that one. but it makes no sense to do both since the cases and posters are also sold on my artist site which is why i push that one. however it makes more sense to have it in the FAA account because people actually visit that account with like a 30:1 ratio at least. no one remembers to book mark my artist site, they use google end up here - and guess what - no phone cases.

i'll just rely on my zazzle stuff to sell the phone cases. google finds them more or less. it's nice we have them, but many do like matching their posters to their phones.

many groups and contests have a leader complex they need to feel self important. to some its just a hobby. to others it's more serious. like the one lady yelling at us because of this and that complaining she was running like 30 groups, most of which she started or then adopted. the funny thing about many of these groups - including this one is - they all think it helps lead you to sales, when in reality it's just another thing in another pile in the back of a store. that's all a group is. another way to sort your socks.

Robin-Lee Vieira Now on the Q website

Robin-Lee has worked as a soft sculpture artist for many years. In having to photograph her prototypes for various publications, one passion led to another. Robin-Leeís favorite subjects are those of nostalgia and antiquity, however, she is open to the offerings that can be found in obscure places in her hometown in Massachusetts and the New England areas. Many of Robin-Leeís works have been licensed for the decorative and gift markets, mainly as wall art.
'I love every aspect of what I do, the journeys it takes me on and the surprises I find along the way. My approach is to find those special places, nooks and crannies in our world that are often never noticed by passersby. A simple tree, a small river as it winds its way through the woodland or an old stone wall. The understated beauty that is always there waiting to be discovered. For me itís like a treasure hunt. With my camera, a love for the simple places and with a little imagination, I try to elevate the ordinary into something special'. - Robin-Lee Vieira
