Shooting Exclusively With Pinholes

I bought a 5x4in pinhole camera and now I am shooting exclusively with pinhole.
I plan to eventually buy a panoramic meddle format pinhole camera and use both cameras only.

I wonder how pinhole images are more close the painting images among other types of cameras. Because it doesn't have depth of field, everything is in focus in the scene. It is not very sharp but smooth, and long exposure is needed to have the result (not a photo you have after a click lasting less than a second a few seconds).

I thought about it after reading a comment that my photograph wold be better it there was a short depth of field driving the attention on the main subject. But I asked myself: why? We don't usually see depth of field in painting and sculptures, just because my image is a photograph does it need DOF, does it need to be fast, does it need to be super sharp? No, of course not. :)

Interesting, beautiful work. Have fun with your pinhole. Pinholes create their own unique look. They are not required to look like any other method of image capture.

Marcio I used to play with my pinhole many years ago. The medium format films are wonderful I agree. I found that when the image was not so crisp it reminded me of a dream. I'm not saying everything needs to be as sharp as can be. I love what the pinhole camera could give me. It's an adventure.

My husband created a panorama pinhole camera for me, but sadly I never gave it a try. He found the instructions in a magazine called "Make". It's a beautiful piece of work.

I am in love with pinhole photograph. Not only because of its particular look already mentioned (soft focus) but also because of it's simplicity. After all it is just an empty box.

I used to carry a brick called Pentax 6X7 in my bag. worried about it following on the ground, about rain, about battery, about lenses, about not forgetting my glasses at home.

Now I just carry this empty box about the same size as Pentax but photographing large format negatives. I don't care about carry glasses anymore, now worry about lenses, focusing, battery, weather, and so on.

For some reason its simplicity makes me feel much more attached with the results I get from it. Not sure why. I just love it. Its limitation is kind of liberating. :D

And I think pinhole cameras are great for landscape photography as well as still.
