Why isn't this type of stuff announced to the members so we can advertise it?

Mark Papke

Because if we advertised it there would be a halt in sales from people waiting for Monday

It's going to be another late night LOL!

Lots of traffic on the road tonight heading back from where ever. Time to unpack, send the kids off to school tomorrow, check the emails, pick through the mail and then start shopping.

Too bad all our midnights are not at the same time. At least I am home then and not out for the day.

Floyd Snyder

I don't like the on again, off again, on again nature of this.

I totally understood the not exposing it for the first day, but on again off again with a day or so in between kind of punishes the loyal buyers that were willing to buy and pay the shipping.

I wish it had been announced as a 3 day or 5 day program once it was launched.

Mark Papke

If it is great, if not oh well. I'm not going to stay up til midnight to fnd out, I have to work early tomorrow. I'll have to wait to promote it when I get home if it is. But it probably won't be.

Abbie, off subject please forgive.... but this avatar you are using is the best one of all time.

Now stop changing it so I can easily recognize when you walk into a room and clean up my act!

Seriously, I really do love this one.

I'm not sure cyber Monday is much of thing really anyway, just like FAA most online vendors already had special promotions for Black Friday, I don't think I've seen a single promotion for "Cyber Monday" but I'll admit I'm not much of a shopper so I might just not be seeing the ads. Most people have to be at work tomorrow, not many can shop while at work. Even if FAA has free shipping tomorrow I won't be able to promote it, I'll be at work too.

"I wish it had been announced as a 3 day or 5 day program once it was launched."

That would have been ideal.

Jani Freimann

That isn't necessarily true on the halt on sales. We don't know everyone on this earth and not every member would advertise it.

Jani Freimann

I like the idea to have it going through the whole weekend and on Monday for Black Friday, Shop Small Saturday, and Cyber Monday...gives people time to pick something out.

Mark Papke

If everybody on FAA sent out advertisements about free shipping on Monday, there would be a halt on sales I guarantee it.

Mark Papke

And then, the mad rush of everbody going online to buy at once on Monday would probably break the website.

I'm not sure it's "most people" that work a day shift. I go in tomorrow at 4:30pm so any Cyber Monday sales I see that I want to take advantage of will be done early in the day. There are MANY casino workers (even management/salaried people) in my area that can or do purchase art that will be off during the early part of the day tomorrow. The majority of my sales have been to blue collar workers and they often work afternoon or night shifts. And some people are able to cyber shop from work on breaks and at lunch.

I agree that it would have been nice to have a four day free shipping promotion. And as Jani said it isn't necessarily true on the halt on sales. One of my customers missed the (NY time) deadline because of travel/wi-fi issues. Even though I advertised and that customer knew about free shipping she went ahead and ordered anyway because she wanted the print, card and tote regardless of the promotion.

Yes, if everyone of FAA sent out advertisement, but everyone won't. Only a portion would...still, I get what you mean.

It just would be nice to know in advance to give my few fans time to get the email on time.

Mark Papke

I hear ya. I may have gotten some sales if I was better prepared for it.

Jani Freimann

Congrats on your sale, Kathy. You advertising did something at least. So did mine. I sold an original though. Nothing to do with free shipping. Just put my work in their mind and they contacted me shortly after I sent the email out.

They won't start shopping until they get to their office computers on Monday morning, when they are not in meetings and when their boss isn't looking over their shoulders.

Or for those in Europe, when they start their jobs at 8 or 9 am their time, it will only be 3 or 4 am E.S.T. here in the USA

Best of luck to everyone, free shipping or not!

It would be nice if any promos would end at midnight Pacific time so that one the west coast there is time to get home and shop if we're out on the west coast.

I agree with Mark that there would have been a slow down and it would cost Sean money.

With the volume of sales that FAA does on a daily based, even a 5 or 10% slow down would be huge money to FAA.

But once it was launched, it should have had continuity.

Thanks for telling us about this Jessica! I didn't know this existed. It took some doing, but I finally got it to work. It's a cool feature.

Well, I did end up selling 2 totes and a pillow today so far to some local to me peeps.

Edward Fielding

Sold a tote and a greeting card. I bought a lot more of my own stuff than I sold. It would be nice to have free shipping days quarterly to be able to stock up on owner purchases.

Cyber Monday was a dud for me. It makes me wonder if that one sale I had on Friday even had anything to do with free shipping or my promoting it.

Floyd Snyder

So, it is midnight on the east coast and the free shipping notice has come down. Of course it is still 3 hours from midnight on the west coast.

Not sure how that effects people overseas. Again with the inconsistencies. I haven't looked yet but I think I did 10 or 12 overall during the free shipping periods.

But to me honest with you I had caught that many sales in the first few days after the last pay period so I really don't know how effective it was for me.

I do I really appreciate the fact that Sean is at least experimenting with the concept. I hope and plans in the future are a little better coordinated and not as disjointed.

For the rest of this period if it continues to be spoon fed to us, I will just ignore it and not try to stay on top of advertising it and putting on my AW and then taking it off.

I don't like the hit or miss aspects of that.

Christi Kraft

I would agree with your sentiment, Edward. It's not practical to have free shipping offered every day, but every once in a while would be really helpful, especially when building inventory or simply getting prints of your newest work.

Thanks for posting Jani, after viewing others and your post today, for future reference a little reminder to all members be prepared would be nice for future events to receive a general email.......I can not help but laugh during the day I was watching tweets on twitter and tweets were exclaiming is it over yet, Cyber Monday....is there going to be a Cyber Tuesday....lol.....here it central daylight savings time and I am still taking advantage of the free shipping down to the wire. As Abbie mentioned it sure did keep us all on our toes....

Geesh, my last sales were back in July, and yes they do have Christmas in July sales marketing.......

Since retiring last October and now in the motion picture industry, I have been following all various actors and actresses in hopes someone in the motion pictures might catch my tweet.....it does involve a lot of work but then it does pay off the customer is a happy person and so is the artist and photographer.......

As far as me, I turned 64 Wednesday, so what I have done is started changing all my prices and only a $6.40 mark up for the entire year, others may say oh gosh that is all and after viewing all the various over pricing which I myself had done since day one.....its my way of saying thank you to all my customers and future customers....hopefully when Cyber Monday is laid to rest, and without the free shipping it will hopefully be Cyber Monday everyday of the week for me, unless Sean offers free shipping til December 25, now that would be nice but not realistic but then again, think of all those sales because of free shipping.

Cheers, and Happy Holidays to everyone......Michael Hoard, Principal Actor, Artist, Photographer and Writer

I did okay Friday but better today. Friday: two boxes of cards. Today: one tote, two t-shirts and a framed print!

I marketed on facebook but didn't get any sales from that. The marketing that worked for me was calling and e-mailing people that had told me they wanted to purchase but needed that extra incentive. No increase in my prices meant free shipping was truly free for them.

Michael Hoard

Greetings Kathy, wow, it has been a very long time and instead of taking part in discussion for months I have enjoyed seeing all the success by everyone with their sales.....I do admit the majority of most of all my work was overpriced, and I agree with you and others without the mark up it does generate more business....hope things are well over on the coast.....I just noticed a new headline on the FineArtAmerica banner 14 fulfillment centers in 5 countries, congratulations!!!

Everything we all can possibly do helps......personally I am on the verge of expanding and launching a new marketing Facebook page and introduction to a complete new and exciting images, with my actors Facebook page and photographers Facebook page, hopefully it will be highly successful.

Cheers, Michael Hoard Principal Actor, Artist, Photographer and Writer

Friday I sold an original drawing. I had sent an email out about free shipping and one of my collectors wanted something else, lol.

I also got an email from someone overseas wanting quite a few originals; which may have turned out to be a scam. Not sure yet, but wary.

Today, I sold a pillow and two totebags. Not sure if it was the email or the Facebook post, but all three were local to me.

Hope others did better than me. I did learn a little more about marketing though.

Excusme (with respect) but I don't get it at all and I need to ask how can it be "thank you" move for those who already bought your work in higher pricing? To me this kind of super promotion makes no sense, even more - it sounds not fair for previous clients who paid more before only to find out they could have it for almost free now...

Newwwman

Arletta = it would make sense only if he lied as to why he was reducing the price. By telling past customers I over charged you because I made a mistake or wasnt thinking is not a good strategy. Maybe lie is too strong a word. But all marketing is deception..even the staight and honest need to coat their words carefully.

Jani, congratulations on your sales (the same to all of our lucky Cyber Monday sellers)!

I've learned a few things too, and intend to build on that. Learning is good!

Michael Hoard

@Mr. Newwwman, yipes that is not a typo I hope smiling. There have been many discussions about the ideal mark up or reduction of each and everyone's work. So there is no misunderstanding or anything taken out of context the wrong way I might shed a little light on why I made the comment in the first place. I am grateful of all the opportunities and yes sales past and due to lack of projected sales, I have concluded my work was a bit overpriced. . Its as simple as that I would rather sell at a reduced market rate than have my work just sitting in a state of limbo. You would have to understand being terminal and in remission I have made it 64 years of age. In this particular case sugar coating and lies have nothing to do with my decision it is mere appreciation I am still alive........

@Arletta, no need to excuse yourself as mentioned above in Newwwman response what can I say I do have some exceptional work in my galley I may benefit from it and then again I may have to make adjustments. I do have to laugh, it like that infamous sign many have seen and I am sure yourself..."Going Out Of Business'....smiling, the sign has been in the window
for over how many years four lol....lol.....I continue to connect the dots to the 'circle of life'.......

@Jani, congrats on your sales and everyone else.....like myself, I was up til the last hour making tweets at least we all did what we needed to do and that was get the word out.....personally both Black Friday and Cyber Monday were successful.......

@.Wendy, agree with you 100 percent learning is a good thing and so is trial by error....good luck to you also......

Cheers and Happy Holidays To All, Michael Hoard Principal Actor, Artist, Photographer and Writer.

Boy, now that free shipping is gone, my sales are picking up big time. Its probably more of a factor of less noise out there and less stress from the holidays. Maybe now people are relaxed enough to start shopping.

Michael Hoard

@Edward, if you recall many, many months ago the various discussions what's happening sales are slow well it seems perhaps things are turning around for some who least expected it and the die hard members were also noticing a change. I agree Black Friday and Cyber Monday does create a madness and you are correct the trend will continue.

Newwwman

Mike..I understand...but i also wouldnt worry about past customers worrying about a pice being less money today...it could easily be more money today or a product could be discontinuied...so i wouldnt worry about that...jus my two cents

Michael Hoard

@Newwwman, thank you for putting it that way, that's a good two cents to consider a particular item could be discontinued. Having the ability to create our individual sub galleries does assist all around. I do have my work cut out for me in the meantime.....

Speaking of Cyber Monday, Art.com has been pushing it all day long.

They started early this morning with an email announcing they are extending their Cyber Monday prices to today. Then all day today have been pushing it. I must have gotten ten emails.

That is really aggressive advertising...

David King

Or aggressive harassing.

Edward Fielding

Yeah they are relentless. It becomes numbing. Meanwhile, I think people are finally getting around to my promotions from the last few days. Selling a ton today after a slow weekend.

Floyd Snyder

I am opted in for Art.com. We do wholesale business back and forth.

Edward Fielding

M.H. - One of my sales today was a $201 markup. Don't understand that $6.40 idea at all. If you were a business you'd be bankrupt with that kind of thinking.
