Now lets talk about mass shooters, 97% male, and 79% white. Over the last three decades, 90 percent of high school or elementary school shootings were the result of White, often upper-middle class, perpetrators.

 

As I stated in Politics 5, we're sitting on a powder keg that's about to blow, and just who do you think is holding the match that will ignite the fuse on that keg?

Is it a group of upper-middle class Caucasian males with an ax to grind because the police are unfairly targeting them?

If you still trust the FBI, they say that African Americans make up 13% of the population, but they commit more than half of all murders.

Of course, that's merely a statistic, not unlike the NYPD stats that Harry Houck cited on CNN; can we still believe what these agencies are reporting in light of the accusations that the Black Lives Matter Party and the New Black Panther Party have leveled against ALL law enforcement?

If I didn't know better, I'd say that the facts themselves are racist.


I'll give you a clue as to what the real cause of this localized societal dysfunction might be: "You know nothing, Jon Snow."

Here are five stats you should know about cops killing blacks, all of which are verifiable:

1) Cops killed nearly twice as many whites as blacks in 2015;

2) More whites and Hispanics die from police homicides than blacks;

3) Unarmed black men are more likely to die by the gun of a cop than an unarmed white man...but this does not tell the whole story;

4) Black and Hispanic police officers are more likely to fire a gun at blacks than white officers;

5) Blacks are more likely to kill cops than be killed by cops.


Whoa! This is rich!

Hillary Clinton said, "I will call for white people like myself to put ourselves in the shoes of those African-American families who fear every time their children go somewhere, who have to have the talk about how to really protect themselves when they're the ones that should be expecting protection from encounters with police,"

Why the hell is she singling out 'white' people? Is she really that stupid? [ Of course she is! ]

This kind of thinking/speaking is pure Third World crap, designed to Balkanize people into arbitrarily opposed groups that are perpetually butting heads with one another, at times, violently.

Isolate this group from that one by pitting blacks against cops, whites against...well, every other group, effectively getting everybody to hate each other.

Who does this? Why?

Obama and Clinton are doing this right now!

Instead of Killery Hillery, we should call her Skillery Hillery...like her cohort in crime Obama, she has learned to capitalize on any crisis to benefit her agenda. Or maybe Obama learned from her, after all she's been around a lot longer than Barry.

Roseann, did I read here that you are considering leaving us? I hope not!! I like reading your posts, and you always say it better than I can.

Patricia, I'm sure Roseanne isn't leaving us. She knows we love her. A debate can get a little heated now and then and you and I know Patrick just makes it all the more interesting. He's not the hurtful type. If it weren't for him, there wouldn't be any real debates here or anyone following them for that matter.

No, I’m not leaving permanently. I decided to drop out of this discussion, at least for the day yesterday, because I was reaching the point of mirroring Patrick’s attitude (at least as I was perceiving it) back at him but in a very nasty way. It reminded me of when Glenn and I lost one of our close friends. Just sit right back and you’ll hear a tale….

(Quotation marks around the name means it’s not their real name.)

Thousands of years ago before Glenn and I started dating, he had two roommates and they shared a house. On Friday’s a bunch of their guy friends would come by for an end-of-the-week gathering. They all survived the work week and wanted to relax, hang out, and either swim, watch a movie, play video games, whatever.

Fast forward a century or two and Glenn and I are together and I attend a few Fridays and get to know some of his friends. One of his closest friends, “Tommy,” and I often make jokes about the extremes on both sides of politics. Far right or far left, both extremes had aspects to them we thought were crazy. We had some things on both sides we found merit with, but viewed ourselves as moderate. However, our favorite target was always bullies, and in particular men who hit or beat on women. Glenn shared our point of view on this. Seriously, what kind of a person do you have to be to beat up on someone who’s either a) smaller than you, b) weaker than you, c) unable to defend themselves? I feel that they are a worthless waste of air, but that’s just me.

As time goes by and Glenn and I get closer, I do develop a bond with his friends. “Tommy” and I continue in our joking, sometimes the others join in. Glenn and I eventually notice a change in “Tommy” in regards to certain aspects of politics and who he really starts to dislike. Neither of us think much of it, as it seems to come and go.

More time passes and the mix changes as Glenn decides to invite some new folks to Friday Night and some of them are female. Well, let’s face it, for geeks the dating pool is fairly shallow. Among the ladies is “Shelly” who has political views that are quite different from “Tommy’s.” As the months pass by they start to have discussions that increasingly become heated. Then we break up the discussions and everyone changes the subject. Until the day came where “Tommy” hit “Shelly” over her views. If a third person, “Sam” hadn’t been near them and caught some of it. “Tommy” might have hurt her really bad.

One of our closest friends became something we truly despise. Glenn immediately put him out of the house and said he was no longer welcome in our company. I haven’t seen him since and I have no plans to. He did get help and last I knew, no longer watches any news. Glenn has seen and spoken to him, but it took about a year for him to be able to do that. I don’t know when they last were in contact with each other.

And that, boys and girls, is why I stepped out.

 

Whenever feelings are confused as facts, some of us are prone to treat those who see the world differently as stupid, mean-spirited, or...as bullies.

If people with whom we disagree redouble their efforts, they threaten our sense of self; the result is that we often treat that as a put-down.

Neuroscientists have discovered that threats to our social status activate the same parts of the brain as does physical pain.

Simply put, when our status is threatened, it hurts. When something hurts, we come out swinging.

I would like to cover a few of the things discussed in the other thread.

Roseanne, I never addressed the NRA as running a national registry because I thought you and Sydne were joking. The NRA is opposed to a national registry for obvious reasons. And before you tell me about their own data base of non registrars....I am aware of it. It's no more than a list any business would have to advertise their wares.

No, I wasn’t joking. I figured instead of being part of the problem, they could be part of the solution. Who would be in a better position to protect the interest of the people?

I never implied that they would use their business list for nefarious reasons. It was to point out that any database, even a National Registry, can be hacked. One of the primary complaints I hear is about being in a database. My point is, if you belong to a gun club, you’re in a database, same with the NRA. If security is good, no worries. If security is not so good, then whether it’s their business database or a National Registry, the information is compromised. IE: if the government truly wants it, they will get it. Which is why I say that whoever has the better hackers will stand a better chance of winning any potential upcoming skirmishes.

Without any checks or balances to who can purchase a gun legally, criminals and crazies will continue to have easy access. The people making these decisions don’t really care because it doesn’t affect them. It’s not happening in their neighborhoods. Eventually the numbers will change and when that happens, there will be another civil war that our enemies will take advantage of. Without some viable solution, or compromise, this is going to get much worse before the year is out.

I felt that was appropriate since we are talking about guns and all. I know that was then and this is now but those guns are still in circulation killing innocent people.

I also felt it was appropriate as we were talking about lives being lost due to a President and his decisions. The Iraq war destabilized the middle east, gave extremist organizations numbers tens of times of what they had before and gave birth to ISIS. How long has that been going on and how much longer do you think it will?

As far as the NRA being in charge of registry and working with the Feds. For me, we have a problem here, a dangerous one at that. So I was thinking rather than fighting against each other is working with each other. I know I have my head in the clouds, but we are not getting anywhere with this issue, people are still dying from guns.

I was thinking along the same lines. If you feel you can’t trust the government, but you can trust the NRA to look out for you, let them maintain the registry. But hey, apparently this a no-compromise issue. As a result, it will continue to get worse until the numbers change in the favor of the other side. It’s actually watching someone shoot off their own foot.

As long as this sort of nonsense is going on in regards to our textbooks, and I'm referring to both side on this one, Public Education will not get much better.

Imagine the feelings of the textbook companies—not to mention the science teachers—when, in response to a big push from the Gablers, the state board adopted a rule in 1974 that textbooks mentioning the theory of evolution “should identify it as only one of several explanations of the origins of humankind” and that those treating the subject extensively “shall be edited, if necessary, to clarify that the treatment is theoretical rather than factually verifiable.” The state attorney general eventually issued an opinion that the board’s directive wouldn’t stand up in court, and the rule was repealed. But the beat went on.

“Evolution is hooey”

Texas is hardly the only state with small, fierce pressure groups trying to dictate the content of textbooks. California, which has the most public school students, tends to come at things from the opposite side, pressing for more reflection of a crunchy granola worldview. “The word in publishing was that for California you wanted no references to fast food, and in Texas you wanted no references to sex,” Quinn told me. But California’s system of textbook approval focuses only on books for the lower grades. I hate politics, I can't begin to tell you how much I hate politics almost as much as these discussions and the same old crap that some like to continue throwing around here.

So you ask, what do I bring to the table? well just a few ideas thanks to Patrick's hateful rants. First of all, the reason Obama has been unable to be a great president is because white racist politicians have not allowed him to. Enough on Obama.

This is one country and it should have one set of laws. This crap of having different laws and standards from state to state is clearly not working. If gay marriage is allowed it should be allowed everywhere in the country, if marijuana is legal it should be legal every where, if you want gun control it should be the law of the land.

Oh, if you want to have a great country, the key is to put GOD first and foremost in every thing, lets get back to family values and morality, just like the Bible teaches, just like our founding fathers did, don't forget this Country was founded on Christian principles," ONE NATION UNDER GOD WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL". America can only be great with GOD! You can never go wrong when GOD is front and center in all we do.

I vote for GOD to lead our nation! Nothing else will work. Trust GOD or suffer the consequences! Think about it, look what you have as choices, Donald Trump or Hilary Clinton.

Peace, Love and Liberty for all, if you can't get your share of these it's most likely you have a GOD problem more than a political one.


I’ve never been a big fan and given how friends, lives and many things lost over them, it’s easy to see why.

There are many people who didn’t want the first black president to report any kind of success. Others who are frustrated that if McCain had Powell instead of Palin, he might have won. I’m sure there are many black moderates that ran from Palin and towards Obama. Heck if the recent news report I heard was even remotely accurate, there are some that despise Hillary but say they would vote for her over Trump. So, unless they have a legal means, and it’s already on the books, for removing Trump at the convention, I would say they sowed what they reaped.

It is difficult for laws to be easily understood when they change from state-to-state.

Sorry, Mario, but on the rest, can’t back you. Belief in God does not guarantee you that an individual will be good or moral. If it were that easy, then there would be no crime committed by anyone of faith. They would all be sin free. But, you know that’s not true. As a matter of fact, according to the Bible, it’s impossible for man to be without sin. So, you don’t really have much to stand on. Actually, this is the original pledge from 1892:

"I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

This is it from 1923 and this is the one I’d like to see it returned to:

"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

In 1954, in response to the Communist threat of the times, President Eisenhower encouraged Congress to add the words "under God," creating the 31-word pledge we say today. Bellamy's daughter objected to this alteration. Today it reads:

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

We are not one nation Under God and never will be until we can put our differences aside and find a way to work towards a better future. If God doesn’t want to do anything about it, then maybe God should move aside.

How many people who have been killing and have been killed, in the last year, all over the world believe in God? What good did it do them?

As for the votes, Donald beat out all the Christians so seems like God isn’t backing those who supposedly believe in and support him. Why is that?

No, they are not. That's a base statistic, but the markers of status are missing. I think you'll find for both black and white criminals, many if not most are poor and un or under educated.

No, not just the "usual suspects." The media, which belongs to both. And don't try to imply the Republicans play no part in this on-going problem. You know better.

The Black Panther Party is not the only homegrown terrorist group. You know for a fact we still have another one. As a matter of fact, it's the one that gave birth to the Panthers. Way to go!

Now, with regard to the following I think there are some misconceptions or at the very least misunderstanding.

True belief in God does not guarantee an individual will be good or moral. What belief in God does is guarantee all the promises God makes to his nations will come to pass. When I say America needs GOD to be great again I am drawing from the following writings and in no way imply that a believer is better or sinless in anyway. It's about GOD and not the man. The only difference between the believer and the non believer is that one is forgiven of his sin.

Proof That America Was Founded As A Christian Nation

America was founded on three documents: The Declaration of Independence; The Paris Peace Treaty of 1783, and the Constitution. These documents give conclusive proof that America is a Christian nation. One does not need a law degree or a degree in history to grasp this truth. It is obvious to anyone who does not have an agenda. Let us review the documents and show this proof.

Declaration of Independence

The Declaration has many references to God throughout the document. The most famous one is that men are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights.

“We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness”



Here are more references to God found in the document:
Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God”
Appealing to the Supreme Judge of the World”
With a firm Reliance on the Protection of Divine Providence”

The Declaration of Independence does not identify the God whom they are addressing. This could be left open to interpretation and opinion.

The Constitution

The body of the Constitution makes no reference to God. The Constitution honors the Christian Sabbath. The President was given 10 days to sign a bill into law. The counting of the 10 days does not include the Sabbath. This is found in Article 1, Section 7, and Clause 2 which in part follows:

“If any Bill shall not be returned by the President within ten Days (Sundays excepted) after it shall have been presented to him, the Same shall be a Law,”

When the Constitution was completed on September 17, 1787, it was signed by the delegates then to be ratified by the states. The delegates signed the Constitution in the “Year of our Lord.” This is a direct reference to Christianity. This is found in Article 7 which in part follows:

“Done in Convention by the Unanimous Consent of the States present the Seventeenth Day of September in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty seven and of the Independence of the United States of America the Twelfth In witness whereof We have hereunto subscribed our Names, GO WASHINGTON–Presidt. and deputy from Virginia”

The Paris Peace Treaty of 1783

The Paris Peace Treaty was the document which formally ended the Revolution and granted the United States independence from Great Britain. In a real sense, the United States formally became a nation on September 3, 1783.

When the United States became a nation, it was done in the “name of the most holy and undivided Trinity.” The preamble to this Treat states it is based upon the “Holy and undivided Trinity.” The concept of the holy Trinity is unique to Christianity. This statement means the United States was founded on the Christian faith. The complete Preamble follows:

“In the name of the most holy and undivided Trinity”

The Treaty then ends just like the Constitution with a statement it is being signed in the “Year of our Lord.” The witnesses representing the United States were John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, John Jay and D. Hartley. The section in part follows:
“In witness whereof we the undersigned, their ministers plenipotentiary, have in their name and in virtue of our full powers, signed with our hands the present definitive treaty and caused the seals of our arms to be affixed thereto.Done at Paris, this third day of September in the year of our Lord, one thousand seven hundred and eighty-three”

When this concept is applied to the Declaration of Independence, it is clear the reference to “All men are created equal,” was about the holy Trinity. The people of the United States are endowed by their Creator, the holy Trinity, with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.

The God of the Bible is whom the United States is based upon. The unalienable rights of life, liberty and pursuit of happiness come from the Judeo/Christian God and no one else. He is the Rock of our Republic.

Psalm 18:2 The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

All of that is really nice but those quotes from the bible have no meaning to me personally.

As for the historical documents you refer to, they were written in a time where people didn't understand evolution and it hadn't been proven yet. Now that it has, you'll find many Christians accept it as fact.

As for this country being Christian, I have to say no it's not. There is no declared religion for this country. You're free to believe whatever you wish.

Only four of the ten commandments are laws in this country, one of them shouldn't be and may vary from state-to-state and the other three have more to do with individual rights than any deity.

Yes Patrick I have heard of the big bang and so since you say I brought it up, which i don't recall doing but just the same and since you are such a devote believer in it's occurrence you might find yourself going back to church because of it. Please watch this short vid to see what I mean.

I can't believe my ears, we have a total maniac running for the highest office in the nation and the chatter is about taxes,and climate change?

I wish I could HEAR typed words like Mario. ... That's a special gift you've got there. (^_^)

I have noticed that some of the wealthiest people that I have known (not that many) are maniacs. ... How is that ? ... Does being a maniac predispose one to great wealth, and can this mania associated with wealth somehow be harnessed at a national level to improve the wealth of a nation?

If I typed 1000 emails with the words "pretty butterfly", "cute puppies", and "lovely flowers" in every single one of them, and just ONE email with instructions on how to decode these phrases, then would an auto filtering device be able to pick out the fact that these delightful little phrases in a THOUSAND emails were just code for secretly harmful messages that only ONE email revealed the key to decode?

Dear Bill, the pretty butterflies you saw yesterday would make lovely flowers for those cute puppies that we just adopted. TRANSLATION: "Dear Bill, the top secret documents that you saw yesterday would make great negotiating instruments for those foreign diplomats we just made friends with." [or something like that, ... you get the idea].

Robert - it would still pick out all of the emails, including the instructions. If the instructions have a separate ID, then it would be pulled and reviewed. Anything that has an ID that they already looked at, they don't need to review again.

Maybe this is as bad as it gets, and so we can only go uphill from here, ... assuming that there are any hills left.

... so much fodder for accusations on both sides. ... I still trust Clinton less, but again, I suppose that we should take assurance in the fact that the country is not run by just one liar, cheat, or fraud. That's why we have congress and the courts, right (unless they are all in on it) ? ... checks and balances ? ... sanity to balance the insanity ?

Checks and balances except in times of national crises/war/emergencies, then I believe the President can override congress. There is a process, not sure what. But it makes sense for the president to have that power, because if there is a crisis we can't sit around and wait. So, our choices now are the seemingly hair-trigger Trump or the bad-judgment Hillary (yes, I think she loses it at times). Lovely choice!

The current Foundation Board is very small and is comprised solely of “insiders.”

The Foundation’s outside auditors noted as a material weakness the lack of Board meetings and that Board minutes are not signed. This weakness was not corrected even after being noted by the auditors. In addition, minutes appear to have been cloned from one year to the next.

The current lack of strategic planning leads to confusion about priorities and missed opportunities as well as duplicative or wasteful work and expenses. The Board does not appear to supervise, set compensation for, or evaluate the CEO. Although the Governance Policy requires that the CEO’s performance be formally evaluated every two years, we believe the last formal evaluation may have occurred in 2007.

The Board does not appear to set the CEO’s salary.

The Foundation has a Conflict-of-Interest Policy applicable to directors, officers, and key employees (the “Board Conflict Policy”), and a separate policy for employees (the “Employee Conflict Policy”). It appears that neither policy has been implemented ...

Of the complimentary Memberships, 160 were offered to celebrities and approximately 276 were coded “discretionary.” At $20,000 per Membership, these “comp Memberships” represent a significant value. Interviewees informed us that there is no transparency into how the comp list is developed.

Interviewees also mentioned instances in which gifts and other payments received by staff had not been properly disclosed.

Interviewees also reported that there is no clear “command and control” structure.

I've seen it all before on a much smaller scale with a nonprofit organization.

The Canadian website crash appears to be the result of accelerated requests for immigration information from USA whiners who cannot fully embrace the way our government works, when THEIR choice is not the choice enacted.

Got a governmental gripe? Immigrate to Canada. That's just the sort of citizens Canada wants to nurture. [sarcasm]

Well it is what it is, we can only hope for the best. I guess one could say, Trump usurped his own party and the democrat party based on a big desire of Americans, white blue collared folks who just weren't going to take it anymore!

Having said that, its time to close this thread, we have 10041 posts here, Campaign 2016 is over and now we shall begin the next phase, Politics 2017!
