Gotta Brag On My Son For A Minute

My son has been been shooting photographs for a while now. He has quite a few images on my site here that are quite good but I really think he outdid himself with this one.

Not only is it an inspired photo the writing is too "To me it symbolizes that even if all your worldly possessions have vanished or been burned to the ground there is always hope so long as we still have our freedom." Now those are some words!

Great eye and compositional sense. Good color and detail too. Interesting the water texture difference in contrast to the other elements, it works well. Well done.

Great shot Kyle

One suggestion that I would make is to tone down the light hitting the wall on the upper left a little bit. Not much, maybe 10 or 15%. It keeps pulling my eye back up there and I'm bouncing between that and the flag and it's making it difficult to moved around the rest of the image.

A good trick is to turn the image upside down and see where your eye goes first. Mine goes to that wall instead of the flag.

He's doing a great job, JC. It's really rewarding when our kids have the same interests and do well at it. He's certainly got a good eye.

Wow, these are really good. You are lucky that your son shares your enthusiasm! It's a nice way to connect with your older kids when you have something to share. I use the "upside down" trick that David mentions, but it drives me crazy. Once I spot a concerning issue and tone it down, another one pops up. It never ends.

I disagree about the upper left - I think it's fine the way it is because it balances out the dark lower right corner. The light on the upper left doesn't distract me at all.
