Rant Thread Part 2!!

Posted by: Tezz J on 12/30/2011 - 6:11 AM

Happy New Year to all you luvverly peops........

We had a brilliant Xmas - hope you did too...................but there's just one or two little niggles that need airing...... have you got any?.....or was it just me????

Why is it you always get one visitor......yep the one with a streaming cold/shivering/sweating/sneezing and coughing.....who decides to become a martyr over Xmas and visit you anyway "because they didn't want to spoil anyone's Xmas"

Oh no - that's fine, I've always found Xmas isn't Xmas without coming down the very next day with your rendition of Bubonic Plague Rules OK.

Tell you what my funniest Xmas present was.....years ago when I was completely disabled and housebound (I'm much stronger now).....my sister bought me a hat, gloves and scarf set................yes really!!!!!!

So any seasonal weirdy moments or even weirder presents come your way????????

I don't mind being mixed uo a bit either !

Posted by: Gregory Scott on 04/22/2012 - 9:28 PM

Thanks, Roger. That was almost sincere enough. (Never ask for compliments. Once you do, even the sweetest aren't tasty enough.)
I actually believe you, though.
Let's call it mixed media, though. I'm a photographer, primarily, but I don't mind mixing it up a bit.

Gregory,

Re: This:

Photography Prints

If you insist......I Love this piece!!....I Really Do!!....NO BS...I really do!

I love the image..I love the whimsy ...I love the colors.....Most of all,..I love your Eye to see the potential in this dried mud...and the effort and skill to do something about it.

But why call it a photograph??...In this case, It's Not the photo that counts...It's your wonderful work that's being photograph that counts

Some of us suffer in silence. Besides, if I complained, my wife might make me suffer without silence!

MY RANT??

Nobody missed me when I left----WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Posted by: Vivian ANDERSON on 04/22/2012 - 12:47 AM

What do you do when you get angry, Ted.....seeing as this is a Rant thread

Posted by: Ted Petrovits on 04/22/2012 - 12:12 AM

LOL @ Gregory
Been there many times, and will be there again I am sure. I may not be elegant in my presentation most times, but I speak the truth and am not ashamed to admit it..If I make a mistake I will take responsibility for it. just please no yelling, I get angry when people yell at me.

Careful where and when you rant. Even the walls have ears.

I wonder if I had some sort of prophetic intuition when I created this image the other day....

Posted by: Vivian ANDERSON on 04/21/2012 - 10:12 PM

Glenn, hope you don't mind....I've only just read your 'rant comment', and think it's an important issue, and agree with you...so, I've bumped it here (seeing as another thread is closed about this, due to , I think, personals there)......this is an important topic for discussion, though whether the posts make any difference to admin, I do not know.....but...thank you for saying this:::it's a mite more serious than other rants so far......worth some thought.....think you deserve a reply....."just saying"...V............

Quote from Glenn:

"Okay... Here's a rant.

Was just contacted by someone that had purchased some of my work, a friend... because of my personal efforts. They were wondering why they had received an FAA advertisement from another FAA artist about a special sale they were having. I asked if they had received notice about pieces that I have had on special in the past several months and they replied that they hadn't.

My question is "WHY"? If they had purchased my work before, why wouldn't my special priced items be e-mailed to them by FAA? Stands to reason they would... Or are e-mail addresses being given to a select few to advertise their work? Are my special priced items being sent out as advertising to the e-mail list?

Just wondering...."

Can you say that again, but this time with more sincerity and enthusiasm? Thanks.

If this attention seeking hint doesn't work, I'm going to have to go get my sledge hammer, so I can be a little less subtle.

Hmmmm. I must have used the back arrow, and looked at the thread "before" I posted the image and comments...
I must say, I was very happy with the way the cat jumped off of the recliner just as I snapped the photo.
He's like "I'm outta here before the litter hits the fan!"

itsa' still there, greg.

Posted by: Gregory Scott on 04/18/2012 - 7:55 PM

Somehow, that photo got censored along with the other negativity. So I had to repost it here.

Posted by: Marlene Burns on 04/18/2012 - 7:51 PM

i loved your photo, greg, and had a good chuckle over it...just sayin'

Posted by: Gregory Scott on 04/18/2012 - 7:43 PM

I may have stepped over "the line" in a thread. To commemorate that event, I made this very useful photograph.
Please feel free to publicize it whenever you, too, cross the line:

I know how you feel Marlene...... infections need to be treated properly.

I only ever suggest natural methods as preventatives or if you can take them at the same time as prescribed meds in serious conditions......but it is always handy to know they're around, don't stop you doing what doc ordered, and can be very helpful indeed.

In mild disorders natural remedies can have amazing results......

Posted by: Marlene Burns on 03/12/2012 - 5:58 PM

i am a physician's nightmare....sensitive if not allergic to a lot of medication. i try not to take anything if it can be helped...but sinus infections are nothing to mess with due to proximity of one's brain.

Posted by: Tezz J on 03/12/2012 - 5:29 PM

That's bad Marlene....happens a lot over here too......on call docs often haven't got a clue - with deadly consequences......

Have you looked up Salitair? You can use it in conjunction with your meds and may help enormously......

luann! you are a riot! i will stop for 2011 after one more trip outside...our main road, accessing our subdivison has started a 3 year 'improvement.'
i would like to publicly thank you for your support, your humor and genuine comraderie that is found all too seldom in cyberspace.
i've got the makings for my next book...but in the meantime, enjoy the one on its way!

Here is my full blown RANT--Marlene must stop taking all those great grate shots and then turning them into posters. This must stop for two reasons, she is entirely too old to be anyone's poster child, but I am going to start calling her that anyway. And, no matter what I see or how cool it is--I am going to look like a loser copycat. BooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Marlene.

Posted by: Marlene Burns on 12/31/2011 - 12:48 PM

gregory, how about looking for somehting new to photo, in stead of something old to rework?

Posted by: Gregory Scott on 12/31/2011 - 7:02 AM

Here's a frustrated rant:
Going through my photo archives, trying to find a really interesting quality image i haven't posted so far.
I'm willing to do some interesting photo-manipulation in photoshop to raise it a nessary notch.
I want some especially good image to finish the year on.
No inspiration at all. None. I'm on the negative side of bipolar for the last 3 days or more. Bleh.
Manic can be fun. The flip side, not so much.

Posted by: Tezz J on 12/31/2011 - 6:41 AM

Sounds like he's some attention-seeking moron. Or he's winding everyone up...or he's a nut.....they shouldn't have published the article either way.......

What a crazy world eh????

Can anyone enlighten me as to why our MP's have to have a 27 day Xmas break??????? They've just come back from their 37 day summer break (which was cut from previous 82 days)......I don't usually swear - but are they taking the p*ss or something!!!

Posted by: Marlene Burns on 12/30/2011 - 7:53 PM

the editor must also be a man...i can't wait for all the outrage to roll in!

Posted by: Rose Art on 12/30/2011 - 7:46 PM

Only a man would say something like that. "honorific term for a woman in power" a woman would never use the c word to describe herself or her daughters.

Posted by: Marlene Burns on 12/30/2011 - 7:05 PM

i have a teensy rant...i wonder if it could be called a rantette...
i belong to a parenting site and some guy wrote an article about how he taught his 3 year old daughter to use the 'c' word to refer to her vagina. he is anticipating some 'issues' in preschool.
at the end of the article there's a statement saying the website reserves the right to remove offensive comments. ha!
so i wrote and asked my name be removed from their e mail list. i am no prude, but really???? comments can be removed but to hell with the article??
the writer claimed that it used to be an honorific term for a woman in power....so he finds it to be an apt description.

Posted by: Tezz J on 12/30/2011 - 6:13 PM

That's fine Rose Art, see your point.....

The P.C.S.C. fund is here...........it already has £5 (aka $8'ish)..........and while we're on the subject...why on why does everyone put out a mince pie and a carrot every year........I tried a baked Ferrero Rochas and baby sweetcorn gratin this year.......not a morsel left on the plate next morning.....

Ohhhhhh I've got a real rant coming up now........................over here we have Studio and Park catalogues where people save each week and then get it all back (no interest) in high street vouchers (so limited shopping choice) at Xmas....Ok that's fine.....but guess what...they were advertising TWO weeks ago...........for Xmas 2012.....................is there no end to people's need to line up at the materialistic conveyor belt????

Posted by: Rose Art on 12/30/2011 - 5:49 PM

I didn't want to yell it from the tree tops- figured this way it would inform those intended and not anyone thinking of taking advantage. I don't think there is anything wrong with buying and selling, I just like to see the artist get their proper asking price.

Oh, and where exactly can I donate to the Prevention of Cruelty to Santa Claus cause? I'm in.

Posted by: Natalie Singer on 12/30/2011 - 5:25 PM

Tezz....lol.....I doubt there's one.... but I bet, and I hope, that Best Buy got a lot of complaints about that ad.

Enjoy that party! And Happy New Year!! xn

Posted by: Tezz J on 12/30/2011 - 5:05 PM

Blimey Rose Art - I reckon that merits a thread on it's own.....buyers could get these at the silly price, and resell for a profit.....wonder what's going on? Cheers for that.....

Natalie.....is their a Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Santa Claus.......I'm donating if there is.....

As to The Rest of The World...........more out than in, I say......

Happy New Year Marlene.............think you're about 7 hours behind us....I'll let you know what it's like ;) (tomorrow night that is)

Almost feel like a party coming on.....................but that would be sooooooo wrong on a Rant Thread..............!!!!!!

Posted by: Rose Art on 12/30/2011 - 3:24 PM

This isn't a complaint or anything, but I would like to point out to some of the newbie's here, that some of you are showing your (take) of the print price as 6 and 8 dollars? Which means that If I like what I see I could buy prints of your whole portfolio, and FAA would get their share but you would not even get the 6 bucks, as, from what I understand, it is a printing fee collected by FAA from the buyer. Are these artists forgetting to fill in any prices, or are they just not showing? I have come across a few, on my journeys here. I don't feel like emailing them all to let them know, so am pointing it out here.

Newbie's have someone check your prices, maybe you can't see it from your site? or you have neglected to put in the amount you want for your print.

i'm with shana...hysterical!! that girl has a great 'tude!
thanks for the post, natalie and happy new year, everyone!

Posted by: Natalie Singer on 12/30/2011 - 12:54 PM

Tezz and Marlene....here's one of the Best Buy ads.
Tezz..."flabbergasted" is so right on. I want to move to another planet after seeing what's going on.
Shana...glad to know others "hate it" as well. I thought I was being over sensitive.

Posted by: Tezz J on 12/30/2011 - 12:47 PM

Hi Marlene.......any time now I would guess ;)

Hahhaaa Barbara - bang on cue :D

JC, Natalie and Shana......I'm in the UK - we don't have that ad..what am I missing with the Best Buy B*tch.....??? I wonder if I can find it on YouTube....

Natalie......I'd been watching all the USA Sales stuff on Sky.......and was flabbergasted.......then, last week in Oxford Street (our most famous London high street) a lad was stabbed to death over a pair of sale sneakers......two rival gangs wanted the same pair apparently. Honestly, I really don't know what's happening in our world at the moment...... :(

Come on Gregory.........I bet you can make a cracker on here by the end of the day.....

Posted by: Gregory Scott on 12/30/2011 - 12:11 PM

I don't have a rant at the moment, but I just got up. I'm sure I'll have several before the end of the year.
Get cracking and make something incredible to post on the end-of-the-year thread!

Posted by: Natalie Singer on 12/30/2011 - 12:06 PM

My Holiday related rant is about all the riots that were caused by people who want some particular pair of sneakers or a $2. waffle iron or a bag of grapes or whatever else people don't REALLY need but still feel the need to pepper spray someone to get a hold of it. It disgusted me to see people behaving that way.

Posted by: Shana Rowe on 12/30/2011 - 11:52 AM

I have no real rants up to this point...life is pretty good right now.

Posted by: Shana Rowe on 12/30/2011 - 11:44 AM

Funny that you guys bring that ad up, everybody I know thinks it's hilarious, but I hate it. Leave santa alone ya bag! lol So glad i'm not alone in this!!!

Posted by: Marlene Burns on 12/30/2011 - 11:17 AM

i miss so many ads with tivo...mebbe i should go back to live t.v.!

Posted by: Natalie Singer on 12/30/2011 - 11:04 AM

@JC...I'm so glad you mentioned that ad...I feel so sorry for Santa and really dislike that woman...I just don't get it...too mean and nasty for me

Posted by: JC Findley on 12/30/2011 - 8:52 AM

I have no rants this year aside from the Best Buy ads where the lady is a total BI@TCH to Santa.... I am boycotting them until I have a job..... heh

Posted by: Barbara Moignard on 12/30/2011 - 8:47 AM

Is that an invitation?

Posted by: Marlene Burns on 12/30/2011 - 8:00 AM

so when do the weirdos show up?

Posted by: Tezz J on 12/30/2011 - 7:53 AM

And you too Marlene.....and many more successes coming your way - oh and everything you wish for comes true x

Funnily enough.....I'm doing the exact same thing as you!!!! I love this time of year, Spring and all things new are just around the corner :)

Posted by: Marlene Burns on 12/30/2011 - 6:35 AM

nothin' weird here, tezz...not even the ridiculous hour that i am awake.
life is good, family is good and i'm just planting seeds for my business year ahead and getting ready for a quiet new year's celebration.
hope you have a wonderful new year filled with joy and better health... prosperity and fulfilled dreams!
