Kasana,
The management told me I would be there as well as I did not have time to get votes and I payed $50... but...I was not able to edit my best Image as it took awhile to get the art work in the order I wanted, they sent me an email saying that I should complete my entry so I logged in and tried to I edited it and then saved and they wanted another $50...not at all what I expected. I have asked for my $50 return and they sent a letter saying they would return my money if I was not happy..and the communication was very late...and now no communication. I told them I would prefer to travel over there and walk around Times Square with my painting on my back than do this web sight that took as much time learning about it...now a complete waist of time to have a web sight I cannot edit if need to change my images. How londg dose it let you have this page? Has anyone tried to edit and not get the pay %50 for the new edit to your self page? I prefer my free web sights I already have. Cheers! Sarah

As many of you probably already know, during the ATTS event many of us couldn't view it remotely because the webcams that were supposed to be available for participants weren't working. Some, of course, were there live and got pictures. One particular artist went out of her way to capture as many stills as she could. I was one of the lucky ones http://yfrog.com/odmndtzj Though it was severely cropped and it was on display for only, from what I understand, 3 seconds, there it is - my image with my name below it, IN TIMES SQUARE! I'm grateful to have a screenshot of it and to know it really happened. I guess they only displayed 1 of the 9 artworks submitted, and I'm not sure, but I'm hoping the Artists Wanted folks will maybe provide their own stills or video of the event that we participating artists can get at a nominal charge, since I suspect getting it for free would be out of the question, if it is available at all. Many seem to have been disappointed by this event for various reasons, not excluding me, but I hope everyone involved found something to be glad about. Your thoughts and experiences?

Steve

Oh, lucky you, Steve.....how amazing your work looks so huge...congrats on getting your clip. I can't find a way to see the whole show, which is what should be posted on the site, so we each can 'catch' a glimpse of ours, if shown.......that would be the right thing to do after all that everybody went through to join and be shown....hmmmmmmm
Guess the party really is over..........just more instant gratification of the 2012 Kind..........here today, gone today..............

Hi, sorry to catch you up so lately..yesterday I didnt have time to sit online at all, I was busy whole day for attending some interviews.... It was night when I actually came to know this show went really crap, most of the artists were disappointed that they had to wait over an hour for the VIP party even they had the ticket..the party was organised in such a mess way that many artists gave up and gave the tickets to others!! Even for the showing, the pictures were of very poor resolution and showed for only few seconds...I heard they mostly promoted them on the billboards, there were adds showing up than the artists work, many artists asking for refund who paid to update the portfolio...However, some people could take pictures and I saw it on facebook..they are lucky actually..but overall almost everbody saying its a pure scam... Anyway...I told some artists to take a picture on my art if it would really possible..

Congratulations Steve for the showing and the picture!!!

As I am an emerging artist and I have not paid anything for it...I enjoyed somehow..and most importantly, I could meet up at least virtually to so many world famour artists, got support from them, inspiring comments on my art from such great artists and the spectacular artworks...this is my real reward from ATTS...

cheers

Kasana

I tried several times last night to view the "live" webcams from the site that was linked in their email. The webcams weren't operating every time I tried to view the event. I am glad that I didn't pay the $25 for the 3 seconds on a smaller panel. After viewing the video someone posted on You Tube I noticed several things. I don't consider the LED panels they erected as billboards the "three story billboards" or "taking over Times Square" as they advertised often on the site, emails, and short promo video.

Chrisann....it just doesn't appeal to me to be (small) part in the new venture...

thank you vivian. The promise originally was to be on 12 screens which would have extended showing from 3 seconds to 18 seconds. Plus they promised to answer questions. I signed up and emailed some questions i needed to make plans about possibly going to new york. After 3 weeks i wrote another mail. Finally i got a response saying that they had 2 many emails but assured me they would get to my questions. Months later was the show. i still did not ever get an answer. Then they give a last minute email with a half hour window promising a live stream. The live stream did not work.... i tried for the entire event. The MOMENT the event was over, MIRACULOUSLY the cam started working. The worst part of this travesty is that artist wanted was tweeting during the event, without ONE mention about the problems. BECAUSE THERE WAS NO PROBLEMS!!! This was staged, probably so they can sell us all shots of our own work. And you want to rush to enter the next one? Well good luck! i hope you win, i think its the only way you might not be taken advantage of.

There are so many entrepeneurs in the art world.....not really qualified in marketing...just marvellous at selling an empty idea about which they can't fulfill their promises, much as they try. The whole place is full of well-meaning, excitable people who obviously are just interested in the outcome, not the process...and we who support that behaviour, pay dearly.
It's important not to get so caught up in the promises given , but to see the truth.......this was/is still a money-grabbing event, as are the new 'events'.....surely by virtue of this experience of their failure to use the image-screens, as promised, nobody will believe they will/can do anything else any better. The odds were always against us outside of NYC it seems.
But, good luck to those that go into the next 'schemes'.....I came away feeling I looked decidedly sad and desperate (a little like those who spent hours and hours on the FAA contest, trading votes, doing their best, against the odds, also disappointed at every level. I'm not in for that kind of mass stress nowadays, nor am I desperate.)
Times Square sure did look fantastic though !!

Andy Mercer

I entered this contest for one reason only.. I wanted a picture of my work on display on one of the giant billboard displays in Times Square.
It's part of my thing to get my work displayed and photographed in unusual venues and formats.

I wasn't really under any illusions that I was going to get anything else out of it but I figured a photo would be very useful for future publicity, when everyone has pretty much forgotten about the event, the picture would remain. So to see a couple of temporary displays showing the work was something of a let down, to add to all the other problems with the whole event.

"A picture is better than a thousand words" and all that.

I've spotted one or two familiar names amongst the many images I've looked at but nobody from FAA apart from Steve.. I'd be grateful if anyone spots my work if they please let me know. I was told that my work would be shown between 7.30 and 8.15 has anyone seen a large collection of pictures from earlier when it was fading light ?

I would have more confidence in my local butcher making the required effort to ensure the project was fully documented ?

To be honest if I had paid money for this I would be very angry.. I'll give it a few days but I feel a blog post coming on !

Vivian ANDERSON

Yes, Andy, exactly....they should have a complete show/upload of the event, including everything they showed....really bad to me that I've heard nothing about that.....so disappointed.......if I hear of a good, complete show on the net, I'll post it here.....such a pity.

Steve Ohlsen

I seem to have been very lucky to have so readily found an image of my work being displayed. Here's hoping everyone else can soon find their images as well. It's too bad this whole event couldn't have been better executed and satisfying for all.

After about 3 days searching, at last I found my paintings displayed at Times Squares, New York. This is a screen shot taken from the video captured by my friend Harold Garcia on 18th June at the ATTS billboard premiere show 2012. Words will really fall short if I wanna thank Harold, I am so very much grateful to him....

the original vertical picture "Flip Face Ambiguity" is cropped to display on the horizontal screen. Link is here: http://skasana.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoid=158406075

Original painting is here: Art Prints

and my painting is shown at 4:44 in this video: http://www.haroldgarciastudios.com/p595104549/h79f50a3#h79f50a3

I am so very happy today!!!!!! :))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Thanks for the link Kasana !

I've also now found mine as well in these vids .. for anyone still struggling there appears to be an alphabetical order to the viewings but it is different on each display. I looked at each vid and looked for the vid nearest to my surname (at the begining). I found a vid with surnames beginning with L and then I fast forward to surnames beginning with "ME" and bingo... there I was !

Image cropped randomly but there all the same. My photoshoped faked pics of the event are much better.

Harold Garcia who took the vids says he will email clean shots to anyone who emails him.. I suspect there is a charge.
But you need to follow his specific instructions as he has lots of requests.
