Translation of prior posts: I'm sorry, I already gave at the office.
Honestly, I make it a point NEVER to vote for vote solicitors, unless they are close friends.
Whenever possible, I go to the contest and vote for somebody else.
The people on this board are your competitors in the contest.
If you think about it deeply, you might use that information, and find a more efficient location to solicit votes.

Greg, on the whole, you're right.....but.....there's always a 'but'.....in THIS case, Juergen is one of FAA's finest Artists, completly respected, so I 'know ' him, and also know he is a major supporter of everyone here, and he is always willing to comment, support, instruct, reply in the friendliest way...an example for our "Community"....
In this case, he's not alone in soliciting....especially, the contest Promotes soliciting.....
You might want to think about your post here as relates to the person, and, the rules of the contest.

Well, if you know him, then vote for him. That's not my point. My comments are intended to be more critical of FAA for running a popularity contest at a time when they have finally made a few systematic inroads against popularity contests. Nothing like working against yourself...

This is all about sales....sales and more sales...the more brought in the more sales which is why

we are here. I am all for more to come in and buy just hoping they see mine and buy. But I will not

be playing since I do not have a FB to use and only 26 most days on my Twitter. Not enough to

make it to the next round.

I don't like asking for contest votes either and never do it. It probably has a more overall negative effect on my social networking connections than actaully accumulating votes. I usually like to let my work speak for itself and most of the time it sure does. However, this contest is different since FAA is asking and encouraging us to do so. In my opinion there is also a very nice, genrous prize associated with it, therefore I decided to give it a shot and do it. Btw, I am sure painters will be in the next round so start building your network. In addition I offered you a free promotion to my social network in return for your vote on my images. If you think about it it's like the fundraisers on NPR ... I always give because I like it and in return get to listen to it for free! I actually considered closing the thread but nee … for the sake of your comments I will keep it open … isn’t the social networking platform so much fun?

Just voted for them.
This contest requests vote solicitors, so it is a proper part of the game.
If solicitation is not part of the contest I won't vote for those who do solicit. However, winning entries are not always the ones soliciting, won one contest last year by a five to one margin did not solicit votes but was accused of it. The administrator did not acknowledge the win and reported the next three as winners in his email.

I am entering my photos but not soliciting votes. Why is it wrong by FAA standards any other time, but okay to do now?

FAA provides a great opportunity and they shelling out a ton of money for an advertisement on National TV ... in return we promote FAA by asking for votes through our social networks that we have build over years ... I don't really see the problem in this particular case/contest and rather be thankful for an opportunity than negative. Ideally in the end qualified jurors not affiliated with FAA would judge the final qualifies but that seems to be still to be determined.

Btw, how do you approach gathering 250 votes for an image without asking people to vote for you? Do you think this is even possible without asking?

I am usually against soliciting votes and just do it for this contest because it is encouraged by FAA ... it's a no no for all other contest on FAA ... at least for me now ...

Hi David,

I believe in peoples' honesty and trust them to do the right thing. In reality I also watch the numbers of votes carefully :-) and if they don't correlate anymore I get suspicious and take notice. If one may know I promote quite a bit of artwork from FAA through my networks ... I guess I let the rest up for interpretation ...

Juergen your Cape Cod is doing the best so far. That would be a great one for us to concentrate

to start with so you can get to that 250 sooner. Is there is leader board to the ones that make
