I didn't take this picture of my parents of course because I wasn't born yet. It was one of several copies and this one showed up at my family reunion Sunday. My sister asked me if I had a copy and said she already had one. She gave me the picture. I scanned it to a digital format and got busy removing and repairing deteriorated areas along with scratches, spots, and lines. I even removed some wires in the background which didn't do anything for the composition. I increased the contrast, did some noise filtering, and used a blur tool to smooth out the cloths and skin texture. The restoration was done via Photoshop CS5. The image was taken approximately 1940's.
Brian, excellent job. What a wonderful keepsake for you and your family. I frame old family portraits and place them on top of my antique upright piano in my downtowns parlor. I call it the family room. Again...nice restoration.
Took these ones yesterday while celebrating my mom and brother's birthdays! Felt kind of bad at first.... I spent more time photographing than visiting but then again our wait to get into the restaurant was forty-five minutes :)
