Groups And Administrators

I just wrote to a group administrator informing him that I was going to join his group and have decided not to, due to the fact that he has not updated his site. This is very popular on FAA and is getting worse. You join a group and a few days or weeks later your work is still pending.
When I join a group now, I quit after two days if my work is not in the gallery. So please would-be group administrators, keep on top of things, visit your group every day, or else stay away from Groups.

Some group admins check once a week or so or every month due to time. If it has been over a month

or more you can contact Beth. Two days is not really a fair amount of time but it is your choice to quit

any group you join. But I know this has come up before and time is different from admin to admin.

Wow. They have a month to update it...that's the allowable time.

You demanding to have your images within two days is completely unreasonable.

You know these are not paid jobs right? They are volunteer efforts.

Conor

That IS unreasonable. The group admins have lives also and things happen. I do not moderate mine within two days often. In fact, my members d not see me usually except for weekly

I never get rid of any groups unless they have not been moderated for at least 3 months.

People get ill. They work. They go on holiday.

They are allowed to do all these things.

I get it too Beth, I know that people work, just like me, As I said a few weeks I could live with but then it would go into a month or two. I just think that people start groups not thinking that responsibility comes with it, In fact FAA removed a large amount of inactive groups not so long ago
I am a group administrator myself and I visit the group everyday and update the posts, and yes Angelina, I know it is not a paid job.

Conor

I am sorry, I saw this

I quit after two days if my work is not in the gallery

That is the unreasonable part I was talking about

If you are not doing that then I apologise

"I quit after two days if my work is not in the gallery"

This is the comment I am responding to as well. It's an unreasonable demand.

I did not see you say "As I said a few weeks I could live with" anywhere.

You could always start your own group.

Actually, I agree with Conor. I started a group and managed to check it every day, sometimes more than once. I also have several groups and pages on Facebook that I check every day. I do NOT spend a lot of time on the computer, I just manage the time I do spend on it. Seriously, if you cannot or do not care to, check the group you created at least 2 or 3 times a week, why create it in the first place?

Please read my original response Cat

People get ill. They work. They go on holiday.

They are allowed to do all these things.

Nobody says they're not allowed. Neither Conor nor I are criticizing people that do things like that on occasion. It's the ones that seldom, if ever, check on their group. I looked into joining several groups that said the last activity was several weeks earlier. Going without checking on your group for several weeks IS unreasonable unless you are in ICU. If folks have lost interest in the group, it's real easy to get you to delete it, like you did for me.

With as many groups as there are, such a "demand" is unnecessary.

If something doesn't work for you and the way you want, .... then move on.

It IS a volunteer endeavor, and when you get called names for not meeting someone's demand, it's pretty sad.

Thank you Cat for your support on this matter, I think I was too harsh yesterday when I said that I would quit the group if my work was not included in the group after two days, It is just that you join a group that has just started, the administrators work is in the gallery and his or her work is also featured on the homepage, in the mean time there are twenty artists that have joined the group and have posted a ton of their work into that group, This has happened to me on more that one occasion, I have written to the Administrator complaining the facts with no response
Beth I do get the point, I do understand , People do go on Holidays and get sick, but they usually post the fact on the homepage,
Mike, thank you for your comment, but I do have my own group, Take a look and if you have any, Nuts, Seeds and Berries, I would be delighted if you joined my group.

Best to all on FAA.

that's why you enter lots of them. some may never be seen. some may be seen fast, other's may take a while. i really never look. every so often i'll check a few that i either forgot about or haven't been featured in to see if any went through. some have, and many haven't the ones that have things waiting for months, or where i have more than a 100 pending, i let beth know and she decides if it's worth keeping.

I haven't actually posted my photos on any groups. Just a couple of contests to see how things worked. It does seem odd that admins of certain groups have time to post their own photos but not enough time to approve those of other members.

Connor,

You are very much welcome to my group...
ALL THINGS BEAUTIFUL

sadly at time i cant accomodate featuring every outstanding artwork.. The featured home page gets too clogged. In one of my other group flooding me everything make it too tasking to approved at times a seemingly similar and redundant work.

Here is the link again.
