Aline Kala is a self_taught painter who use painting as a way to connect to her past, her culture, and her life. Born in France from Polish immigrant parents, Aline Kala spent many years in the South of France, in a village called Puissalicon, near Montpellier. Many of her paintings recapture the beauty and colors of her region, the Languedoc-Roussillon. She visited Chapel Hill for the first time in 1981, and met her husband that summer.
