Brush to Canvas

Artists like to hide behind the excuse that they don’t feel inspired so they cannot work. If that is the case, study pictures on the web. Once you find one that is interesting here’s a few questions I ask myself to try to get inspiration.

What is it about this picture that draws me to it?
• Is it the colors?
• The arrangement of the piece?
• The mood of the work?

What is just off frame?
• What story isn’t being told?
• What is the view like from within the canvas looking out?

This are only a few of the question that can come up for you once you find something that speaks to you but once it does, listen. Then commit to tell the hidden story or expand on what drew you to the piece in the beginning. Next step put your ideas on the canvas see what your take is on the subject or color scheme. Finally, show it to the world.
