Hatchling Dragon Wins Third Place

The Hatchling Dragon Wins Third Place in the juried FAA contest, 'Sculptors - this is for you'!

"Hatchling Dragon" . . . The newly hatched Dragon wraps her tail around the neck of the gourd-shaped egg shell to allow her wing membranes to dry. The technical term for this brief stage of Dragon development is ‘Dragonette’. She will flap her wings until confident enough to release the grip of her tail and become airborne. Flitting about, she toasts the fibrous shell with her fiery breath to make it edible. All Rights Reserved © 2012 padre art . . .

There are several views of this jeweled, hand-carved treasure (along with details of the intricate and subtle finish) in our new gallery . . . 'Hatchling Dragon'
