Please read below about this opportunity:
TO CLARIFY AN ISSUE I FAILED TO ADDRESS: YOU DO NOT NEED TO SEND YOUR ORIGINAL UNLESS YOU ARE TAKING THE FULL VALUE OFF OF YOUR TAXES FOR A CHARITABLE DEDUCTION, AS WELL AS THE COST OF MAILING.
The museum has already contacted me and accepted Philip Cappiali's artwork that he has submitted and are extremely excited for more. Congratulations to Philip! The organizer has personally requested your piece.
There are fundraisers that are being planned to take place over several days. Should you have a piece that you would like to be placed in their many silent auctions as a charitable donation, please send me a private message. I am under the impression that they are going to present items for auction to raise funds for helping with the August large event.
They are going to be accepting several pieces. Based upon their needs, I am allowing 2 pieces per artist. If you really want to add another one, PM me and I will the the local administrator review it. Due to FAA wanting 5 days and votes for a monetary prize, let's all click on that for the August finale event.
Mr. Jim Hodgson, the Chairman of the OV-10 Bronco Association and Fort Worth Aviation museum also sent this flyer to me. Please review the information and prepare your piece should you wish to be part of this nation-wide fundraising effort among our Veterans. Here is Mr. Hodgson's message regarding the damage of the museum, and his information for the GoFundMe.
On Father's Day, June 16th, we were hit by one of the many storms that crossed North Texas with 75+ MPH winds.
The worst of the damage was a total loss of our Bell OH-58 Kiowa helicopter that has been a mainstay of our #Kiowa4Kids educational outreach program for the last six year. During that time, over 250,000 people have visited the aircraft at parades, community events, schools, and air shows, making it the most photographed airplane in Texas.
All totaled, we are estimating the damage at $43,500.
We are raising money to benefit the museum through our parent corporation, the OV-10 Bronco Association, Inc. a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation.
Substantial damage was done to our aircraft collection and facilities.
Our Bell OH-58 Kiowa, two-war veteran helicopter, is a total loss and we estimate its replacement will be at least $21,000.
Our Cessna O-1 Birddog observation aircraft, the only potentially flyable aircraft, sustained damage estimated at $15,000.
Also, our OV-10 Engineering Factory Mockup, AH-1 Cobra and four other aircraft, are estimated to be damaged at a repair cost of $3,500. A storage barn sustained roof damage. A large two-story work stand and a variety of smaller items are estimated to cost $4,000.
This has been a significant set back to our collection, outreach, and educational programs.
We have set up a GoFundMe account to help our recovery program. These costs far exceed our emergency funds. Any donation will help make an impact to recover from the storms. Please see the link below to the GoFund Me Account.
Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
The OV-10 Bronco Association Inc, through the Fort Worth Aviation Museum, strives to inspire and educate young people and our community through the preservation of the rich aviation history of North Texas.
